Anybody who filed through the California service center have to wait the full 5 months or longer?

My fiancee and I are getting rather antsy. We filed August 6th 2010 and have not received anything as of yet. Not even a touch.

This is rather dis-heartening to say the least.

If it goes beyond the 5 month mark, what should I do that will actually kick this into gear? I assume just calling won't really do it. Maybe calling my congressman? Use the fact that I'm a vet? I don't know, I just want to be with my wife. Not too much to ask in my opinion.

Thoughts?

I filed through Calif. on July 7th and got the NOA-1 on July 30th (dated July 15th) then never got an email until Dec. 8th and it was for an RFE.On Dec. 28th I called the national service center twice and told them I haven't received it and was told "we don't send any mail overseas except to APO addresses". I said "well that's strange because I'm holding my NOA-1 in my hand". Then she told me "you had it forwarded from a friend in the US" me "no it was sent from the Calif. office to my name and address in Thailand" her- "well I don't understand" no ######.

I sent my packet in from Thailand with my Thailand address got my NOA-1 here got the RFE here on Dec. 30 and it was asking for proof we have met in the last 2 years. They send all correspondence to Thailand, in the packet my fiance's address is the same as mine and the RFE wants copies of my passport showing I have visited Thailand in the last 2 years?? Go figure, I have lived here for the last 6 years and have tried EVERYTHING in the last 3 years to marry my Burmese fiance in Thailand. NO WAY NO HOW - can't be done - I could write a book about it.

In my I-129F packet I included papers from the VA stating I am a 100% disabled vet and it doesn't seemed to have made any difference.

Be patient and expect to wait the full 5 months with no touches, some people get touched some don't. Don't use the congressman "card" until after the 5 month mark it won't do you any good and might hurt. Patience fellow vet, remember your dealing with the bureaucracy here, there way or no way.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you for the information and the encouragement. I'm not one to keep quiet, which has gotten me into trouble on numerous occasions. Pray I can do it longer.

THAIEXPAT: I hope everything goes well for you and your loved one! To hear of a fellow Vet being given a hard time by his own government really puts my blood pressure through the roof.

I hope that I have the self containment to refrain from kicking up a dust storm after the 5 month marker. Just like any of us, I want to be with my wife. No law abiding, hard working American should have to!

Don't worry so much about touches. ::Lack or abundance of touches doesn't really mean anything specifically.

Hello all, new here, just discovered VisaJourney recently but have gleened a lot of great information. I have a quandry, though, that I hope someone here can help with. Like a lot of others here, we have yet to receive our Packet 3 in the mail (waiting for it about 6 weeks now). We are in Bangkok however, and we'd like to get the Police Certificate so we can send off the Packet 3 (downloaded the forms from the BKK US Embassy website).

But everywhere I read, it says the Royal Thai police require the Packet 3 cover letter. Is there something else I can provide to fulfill the requirement? What have others who never received their Packet 3 done?

The info on the embassy website says a notice from the requesting embassy is required (i.e. a cover letter from packet 3). You should be able to get the police clearance certificate with any proof of an impending visa interview (i'd try using the NOA2). If that doesn't work, a few hundred baht should make it "official".

We used NOA2 when we went in to get the certificate. There were not problems.

Thanks!

I know this doesn't have to do with the K-1, but would somebody be willing to do a quick Thai to English translation for me?

Shoot me a PM if you can.

Thanks.

Yep. Been trying that site, it works a good deal but it won't work for this because it's in picture format so I cannot just copy and paste the text.

Got our Advanced Parole documents today and at the same time notice of our interview for February 3rd. So seems things are moving along pretty fast. You would think that with all the documents we have sent in twice now that thke would not want to see them all over again, but the notice says to bring all that #######.

Any input on what to look for in the interview would be helpful. Thanks!!

I didn't think they required an interview for the two year green card...

Not a certain thing. Sometimes they'll even do it for the removal of conditions when you get the 10 year.
