I-864 Question 15 (Domicile)

Hi guys,

I have the interview lined up for Monday. Just drafting the I-864 and came across the domicile question again. Been through the topics on the forum and this has been covered quite a bit, but answers seem to differ at certain Embassy's.

So, in short, does anyone have recent experience on how to answer this from a London perspective where you are intending to reestablish domicile in the US in the near future?

We have got all the supporting docs together to show the steps taken, but don't know whether we should put United Kingdom or U.S.A for question 15. Is any answer other than U.S.A ever going to be acceptable?

Thanks again!

Well, I really couldn't decide so I took 2 versions of "Page 2" with me. One with U.S.A and one with U.K at question 15. As I was handing over the I-864 I said that we had struggled with this question and as my sponsor was, in good faith, intending to reestablish residence and had taken steps to do so, we were not sure what to put. She said "put U.K.", so I handed over that version. She also seemed willing simply to cross out U.S.A on the other version, and we got approved, so I probably shouldn't have stressed so much!

Anyway, hope that helps other people.

Thanks for posting that, this question gets asked off and on. Many people think putting U.S. is a good answer, I think UK, in your case, is the correct answer and I guess it is.

You can't claim you are domiciled in a country where you are not.

Anyway, congratulations on your success, good thinking taking 2 copies and asking.
