I haven't got my biometrics appointment letter yet and looking at the list (April filers), I'm getting nervous. So I called the Infoline and was passed to a supervisor, who was able to tell me that my file is at the local office for my town. She also told me that I would be having my biometrics at the local office instead of downtown where I would expect they would be done.

Thinking about this - I suspect that the local office (police station maybe?) is responsible for security clearances, whatever name checks they do for ROC, that sort of thing, and when they're done, will release my file for biometrics at the usual downtown location.

Is it significant that I'm in Arizona???

Hello,

We are in Phoenix. It took a little over a month for us to receive the Bio appt letter for my wife. our NOA1 date was 3/10 got our Bio letter about 4/20 and the appointment was 5/03. The local office we went to was, USCIS Application Support Center 2545 East Thomas Road Phoenix. This is where you are most likely to go. I am not sure why they are slow getting to aapontments. The day we went, there was not many people at all there. Hope this helps.

Sorry... not familiar with Arizona law, but background checks are done by the FBI and not local or state police. When was the last time you had a biometrics session? Usually, if it is less than 15 months, then the old ones are still valid and USCIS can choose to skip a new appointment... It happened to several people.

If file is transferred to local office, then the local office will handle your petition instead of CSC.

My 2 cents...

I don't want to scare you, but there is a possibility that you have been selected for interview?

Usually, file will be transferred to local office when you have interview so...

This was very very very rare case,

But March CSC filer ddx received interview letter befor bio letter and did interview before bio...

Sorry if I worry you unnecessarily...

I hope you'll get bio letter soon!

well i believe also that you been selected for interview that's why your file in is the local office, so mostly the scheduling bio and everything will be taken care from the office in phoenix, i just had an interview this morning they usually just wanna get some explanations for things they dont understand and get to adjudicate the application then.

Well hei - it's USCIS. Call back 2 more times over the next 3 days, get two supervisors, and

see if you have same 'scenario' explained to you, again.

Good Luck !

Thank you for your replies!

The ASC office on East Thomas was where I had AOS biometrics about two years ago and that is where I was expecting to go again.

Being called for an interview is always a possibility, and no problem if we are. Does anyone know, if there's an interview do they do the biometrics at the same time or is that still done separately at the ASC office? (Ugh, two drives downtown?)

I guess I'll be patient for a few more days and if the appointment letter still doesn't arrive, I'll call a couple more times on different days and see what other supervisors can tell me.

So why would El Mirage, the suburb where I live, be involved at all? Even if there is an interview, surely that is done in downtown Phoenix too?

hi, i'm also an april filer, i filed april 9 got my notice of action i-797C last april 13 and until now, May 21 i did not get my biometrics appt yet. I already called 3 times after 30 days of getting my NOA1 and everybody has different answers. The man gave me an email address to follow up my case but i didnt do it, i called again on the same day and get other person. The lady tried to make a service request but she said the computer wont allow her so, she forwarded me to a higher customer support and i talked to a higher customer support and she told me that im on the list of people who is going to get a biometrics appointment but i dont have an appointment date yet. Today may 21 i called again and the lady did a service request and she asked all my info about receipt number, address, phone and email. I hope i will get my biometrics appointment also. I wonder if this is also what happens to me that i didnt get yet my biometrics appt because i live in arizona and they are slow/delayed?

I still haven't received my biometrics letter either. I made an Infopass appointment for two weeks from now. If the biometrics appointment letter shows up before then I'll cancel the Infopass appointment. In the meantime, next week I plan to call again and ask to speak to a supervisor. Hopefully I'll get a different person than the one I spoke to last time, and maybe a different answer.

Jeff & Rose said that it took over a month for their biometrics letter to arrive, also in Phoenix, so maybe our office is just slower than most. This is very frustrating, it should be a pretty automatic thing.

Oranges, are you also waiting for the Phoenix office, or somewhere else in Arizona?

I phoned USCIS again today and talked to an officer this time.

My NOA1 receipt date is April 15, just under six weeks ago. My biometrics has not yet been scheduled but because it should have been by now (according to the officer), he has sent a request to try to push it along, and said that I should have the biometrics appointment letter by email within two weeks or by mail within a month.

The officer was able to give me the receipt number that will be on the biometrics letter, and now I can at least follow the case on their website. The date on that case number is one day after the NOA1 but there must be different databases because the first person who took my call couldn't see that number at all.

He also said that there was nothing further that an Infopass appointment would accomplish, so I cancelled the one I had booked for next week.

Today I got an e-mail from USCIS (The "from" actually says CRIS not USCIS) dated Friday May 28 2010. It refers to the receipt number that was on my NOA1, not the receipt number that the officer says will be on the biometrics letter.

The relevant paragraph is:

The status of this service request is:

The process for fingerprint appointment scheduling has been requested. Applicants will be mailed appointment notices when the ASC in their area has appointments available.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

hi, i called today and asked if i can talk to a high level customer support and finally got my biometrics appt date, it will be this June 30.

I think phoenix support service center is delayed in processing applications because when i called previously, the high level customer support told me that they were informed that there are support centers that are delayed in processing applications, she said it will take 60 days to get the biometrics appt.

Yesterday I called USCIS again and spoke (again) to an officer who could not tell me anything about my very delayed biometrics appointment. Today my appointment letter was in the mail.

How come their system is not updated nightly? (Why am I even asking this???)
