OK. The panic has set in and I need a little support please.

I read a post here on VJ from slightly over a year ago by a K-1 couple who went through the embassy in Tbilisi. He was a Georgian, she the USC. The case was denied for a bunch of 'small stuff'. Items listed were he was 3 years older than she (USC), he had unsuccessfully applied for 2 tourist visas the year prior, 7 months from meeting to interview and inconsistencies in the story of how they met relating to who introduced them. The poster said the CO (female deputy consul) was rude, did not want to see any of their evidence and seemed to be looking for a reason to deny.

Maybe some of you remember this topic? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/185978-221g-not-clearly-eligible/page__st__30

Our situation is somewhat similar: 5 years between us. I'm the USC, older & female, 8 months from meeting to interview, he has no prior visa apps to USA. We met in person through work (we work for the same company) and have records of daily phone and Skype contact.

Unfortunately, there aren't any embassy reviews for Georgia so I don't have any more to go on and a google search yields the same story by the same poster on another immigration website.

Am I panicking unnecessarily? helpsmilie.gif

I guess, a lot of people who are going to have their interview would feel nervous, however, you should not panic because your situation is different from them. As long as you can show evidences of a genuine relationship, no need for you to worry. Just tell him to relax and be confident when he answers all the questions that will be asked.

Good luck!

IMO, the VO had an opinion prior to the interview, conducted the interview 'in that fashion' to try to prove up 'not a bonafide relationship' for denial.

I think you have 'other things', when weighed in AS THE TOTALITY of yer casefile, that would make 'the approach' different for the VO interviewing yer fiance - ie - I don't think you have the same issues, sans an age gap and the duration of your relationship.

You might want to consider writing up an 'evolution of relationship' letter, include it on interview day, add to the pile of evidence, have it ON TOP, and try to make it cross-referenced with any of thee evidence you have... ie (a sample sentence)

We spent two weeks together in Tblisi (ref attchm 14) and fell in love.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

The facts are different, some better, some worse.

There is a very high probability that the same interviewing CO isn't even in that station or if she is, has moved to a different section. They rotate quite a bit as it is difficult to continue the same line of work every day for a year like that.

Never the less, do take it as a serious hint that your fiance(e) will be put under great scrutiny and prepare him/her for the interview. Make sure he can explain the age gap, is it a big deal for you, for him, etc... Make sure the circumstances of meeting are fully consistent between documentation and what he/she answers at the interview, etc...

Help your fiancee prepare. Finally, if you can be there the day of the interview, that can be enough to push it over the approval line. Even if the Embassy does not permit the USC to be present at the interview, gopy the name and photo page of your passport, your boarding passes and visa stamps and give them to the Embassy as proof of ongoing relationship. The Embassy will know you are there for him/her.

Good luck

Darnell, Audy_Rob your advice was great! He was approved! kicking.gif

It is 3:00 AM here and I will post a review when I get the full download from my fiance this afternoon.

We didn't have time to send an EOR letter but made sure his version and my version of how we met matched. He said the interviewer asked him some tricky questions, specifics about my late husband's death (what disease he had etc.), and the usual how did you meet, when did you last see each other stuff.

Thanks again for the support!
