Great news!

So we went to the NJ MVC in South Brunswick, NJ, and we had no problem with the I-797c and expired conditional residence card. They knew exactly what to do, and we didn't even need to explain our situation.

They issued a new drivers license which is valid until 15 months after the original expired conditional residence card - 12 months for the I-797c letter, and 3 months extra which is their standard practice.

Good to know! I'm going to bookmark the links you provided and hope the staff at my local office is as efficient...if not I'll drive down to South Brunswick.

I guess then I will send all NJ peeps here  We had not had the issue arise as his card came befor expiration, but I have seen more than a few people from all over NJ who were not issued the replacement with the I-797 I guess it is hit or miss thanks for letting us know

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, the NJ South Brunswick MVC is a brand new facility, and they have a decent amount of staff. We didn't have to wait long at all, so I highly recommend them. They also have an inspection station for your cars.

Here is the address:

South Brunswick MVC

---------------------------

2236 Route 130 North

Dayton, NJ 08810

Agency

M–F 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Sa 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Inspection

M–F 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Sa 7 a.m. – 12 p.m.

And the best thing is they have a webcam so you can see the Car Inspection waiting queue..

To add a datapoint here - I'm an April I-751 filer, still waiting for my biometrics appointment. My bigger worry was that my driver's licence is expiring in a few weeks.

Today I went to the motor vehicles office in Glendale, Arizona (northwest Phoenix) with my NOA1 extension letter and current (expiring) green card, and they gave me a one year extension on the driver's license with no problem at all.

Any CA people have a problem receiving their initial DL? My husband applied with his green card and passed all of the tests. The card was set for production according to the DMV computer (per representative on the phone). It has been almost 6 weeks, and his temporary license will expire soon. We have received no request for additional documents or anything from the DMV. Are we supposed to be faxing a copy of his green card to Sacramento as I have seen other people on here mention? Thanks!

They gave my husband a hard time in Michigan when he was applying for his drivers license. We took them everything they needed and more. They also needed proof of residence and address....lease and bills in his name but my name was ok too since we had the marriage license. Then the idiot went on to tell us that our lease is fake  and I wanted to kick her teeth in for accusing us of making a fake lease. We ended up going to another DMV 30 minutes away with all of the same documents and they didn't even ask for half of what the first place was asking for.

UPDATE:

I was able to speak to a representative at the issuing office of the DMV who said that the card was released for production yesterday and should be here in 2 weeks. I asked him about the delay, and he confirmed that it was likely related to verification of immigration status. Yeah! So glad we were able to resolve this ( I hope) without another visit to the DMV.

I lived in MI and I did notice a huge difference in attitude - I think I know which offices you are talking about.

One office didn't accept my application and the other one produced a 4 year DL without even caring that my GC is expiring in 2 years....not sure if an overlook but it worked well for me.
