Shipping Barrels to Jamaica

Hey guys...

I'm gonna be in Jamaica for three months, maybe longer. I am considering shipping a barrel to Jamaica, but I dont know how to go about it. I would like to pack it myself here in Portland, Oregon. Anybody have any experience with this?

Check with any caribbean/mexican/store in your area, they will have information on who to use to ship with. They will probably sell the barrels aswell.

Be prepare to pay $$$ to clear at custom in Jamaica.

It will probably take about 4 weeks to arrive in Jamaica.

I shipped on in January and it took less than 2 weeks from cleveland I was stressed with the packing but you just have to make sure the things are in their tight and wrap things that will break or burst like Ketchup etc. I paid $125.00 to ship and then my husband paid $1200.00 for paper work and $5000. to clear customs. You would have to go to a west indian store

I can't find the information now, but when I was looking to move to JA, I found somewhere that said if you are married to a Jamaican citizen you can have one shipment duty free.

Key is that you ship from yourself in the states, to yourself in JA so it's not considered a gift..

I will try to look tomorrow for more info...
