You can get most of the forms from the "guide" section and the embassy web site.

Be sure the boy is identified on the I-129F. You will eventually need to submit an I-130 for him (assuming you are going the K route). You'll see all of that as you review this thread. I went through this with a 10 year old step-daughter, so pay attention to my posts on issues related to that.

good luck.

I-130 for the child? I thought as long as minors are in the I-129F, in the DS-230 they are considered as "one" application. Maybe I misunderstood?

The child IS included with your fiancee's application, however, at some point you will want to adjust the status of each of them. This means you will need to submit an I-130 for the boy also. You just don't need to do it right now.

I called NVC this afternoon.....our interview date is Aug. 17th..........WAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Since I am pretty sure she will not receive Pkt 4 in the mail I am planning on going to the Embassy to pick up the appointment letter. We have all the other stuff completed. I remeber some one saying you can go to the embassy on the thursday before theinterview to recieve the appointment letter. I saw on the embassy site there is a phone number to call if you have not gotten the letter 2 weeks prior to the interview. I will call that number when the time comes if she does not receive it in the mail.

since the interview is on a Friday, going there to get the letter the day before should work out pretty good, that is cutting pretty close for my comfort, but it is what it is.

I am planning on sending her to Bogota on Monday the week of the interview. That will give her Tues., Wed and Thursday to complete the med and lab stuff. Good timing, or should I allow more time?

Last. I have been trying to figure out how to present our eveidence. I have over 100 pages of phone bills, many hotel receipts, fotos, and other stuff. Not sure they will want all that. I plan on putting togeather 4 foto's of each visit in a album with written dates under them. Not sure what to do with all the other stuff, I have a bunch. Maybe a seperate album(small and thin) for each visit that would include foto's, phone records, ticket stubs and hotel reciepts. Sound OK? Thanks all. Reality is reallay sinking in now. Trying not to over think things and yet want to be thouro.

I took my queue from Mike. We had the interview on a wednesday, we requested the DAS migratorio cert on the prev thurs, collected on monday, we did the labs on friday, medical was on monday, picked up medical packet on tuesday.

I would make the photos the centerpiece of your evidence and worry about that the most. yes, have the rest ready, but try to make your pictures tell a story. by a flip book cheapo album at the drugstore and arrange your pictures so others know you are inseparable and you are integrated into each others lives. Our thoughts for the interview were that anyone who knows colombian culture knows that family is very important and that including pictures with family would be useful. Who knows in the end what they're looking for, but for us our pictures were sufficient that we didn't need to present our emails and excerpts from 1.5 years of messenger transcripts that I had bound into a "best of the best'" notebook. I think we all agree that you never know and can never be too prepared, but count on your photos telling the story and the rest backing it up.

To: All VJ members going through the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia.

I am posting this thread because I have had to explain this process many times so by putting it here it should help everyone. The best of luck to your fiancée and you. (L)

You could look at my timeline and get an idea. Remember no two K-1 fiancée visa petitions are exactly the same.

After your petition leaves your service center (CSC/TSC, NVC, VSC) it goes to NVC and it might take about two weeks. From NVC it goes to the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá this usually takes about four or five days.

There are short-cuts that you can take once the petition gets to Bogotá. But the first thing you do is to call NVC every couple of days to a week. Make sure you speak with a customer service representative and not the automated system, K-1’s stay less than two weeks and they do not put them in the system. When you call NVC, get your case number and ask them when they will sent the petition out. Once you know that date, call back on that date and make sure that they sent it out. Then you track the package through www.dhl.com. I will give you the instruction later.

Once the petition gets to the Embassy you or your fiancée faxes and sends by courier (Servientrega); a copy of your fiancées passport, OF-169, DS-2001 and DS-230 part 1. If the Embassy gets these documents before the cut-off date (varies from month to month 16th to the 20th) then you get the interview the following month. If not by the cut-off date you get the interview the month after that.

After the NOA2 every thing moves fast so you need to make sure your fiancée and you get all the documents, paperwork, and all other stuff ready and send it to her.

Good luck,

Peter Miami

Hi there, I just want to thank you all for the info provide thru this forum, I want to ask a favor if anyone here that has gone thru the K-1 process and specifically the interview, if they can provide me with the questions that they were asked and if it is possible to be send in spanish, this way I can forward it to my girl, since our documents are already at the American Embassy in Bogota, I want to be really prepared for this and my girl can read what other people has gone thru to sucesfully get their visas, i will appreciate it, if not just send them i english and I will translate them and send them to my girl, thanks a lot to everyone.
