Greetings to Colombia!

I posted in the CR1 forums but did not get a response to one of my questions and now after pre filling out some of the stuff we were able to fill out now I formulated a couple more questions that maybe you guys can help me with. I noticed in the I 130 example form on this website the petitioner lists himself in section C (17. List husband/wife and all children of your relative.) Wasn't that suppose to be info about your fiancee or spouse?

Also the I130 package checklist at the end states to include evidence of bonafide marriage? Does anyone have any examples of what they included? Adry and me of course are not married yet and do not have items 1-4 on the evidence checklist. So we have to go with affidavits and any additional evidence of an ongoing marriage. This leads me to believe you have to send in your receipts of your hotel and airline accommodations, chat logs, and or a photo album. That would be one big package to send or am I mistaken? Give me your thoughts about that part. Also and lastly the affidavits that you have your friends and family complete do those have to be signed by a notoriety? Just curious.

Thanks mis amigos.

Coffee,

Question #17 of the I-130 asks to list the names of husband or wife and children (if any) of the beneficiary, in this case your wife. So you would put your name down because you will be her husband when you file for her CR1 visa.

[=/k,.

As for evidence of a bona fide marriage, basically a copy of your marriage certificate is all you need but you can also send them a couple of affidavits from friends or family members. These don't have to be notarized. You can save any other evidence for your interview.

Diana

Ahhh thanks for the clear up Diana. Oh and thanks you guys for making mi novia feel more at ease. I think she was worrying about the wrong items all along. And speaking about other 'item's it suree is cold in Key West. Friggin temp drop overnight made Physical training almost unbearable. I am sooo used to 70 and 80 degree weather whatsup with that ehehe.

Hehe, to say it was cold for you guys is an understatement. I was reading that some places were so far below 0 that in 10 minutes flesh can freeze. Thats incredible! I cannot imagine how cold that is much less desire to know. Then again the only way to combat the cold is a nice bowl of chili.

Well tomorrow I should know for sure if my arrangements are set to go to the interview. I think I worked it out. I was reviewing the AOS portion and it appears it is important to do this quickly after the wedding. Any helpful tips? And did I see the fees correctly??? WOW

James,

This is what they need in English:

- Certified copy of you birth certificate. It can't be older than 3 months from issue date.

- Photocopy of your US passport.

- Certificado de Solteria is a Certificate of Bachelorhood where you certify that you are single. It has to be notarized and signed by two people who have known you for a while. You can find more info here.

- Certified copy of your marriage certificate with divorce info if you have been married before.

- Sworn affidavit where you say you didn't have any children in your previous marriage(s).

- The last one pretty much asks for a certified copy of either a divorce decree, or a document from the Catholic Church saying your previous marriage was annulled. In Latin America and even Spain I belive, the Libro de Varios is where they keep all this info. No such thing in the US though, so if you were married before, bring all documents that prove your divorce or annullment.

EVERY SINGLE DOCUMENT needs to be 1. Translated to Spanish and 2. Apostilled. In Colombia they are very strict about apostilled documents so make sure you get this done before you send it to Colombia.

My wife, son and I were at the Bogota embassy in November. We're doing DCF. They approved the I-130 in a heartbeat but it turns out that none of my assets or income can be used for the I-864, no matter that it's all in dollars and my job continues even after we move to the US. The consul was rather rude to boot.

So I'm trying to figure out the I-864. I have a sponsor what will work, just wondering if I still need to fill out the I-864 myself and if so do they even need proof of my assets and income, since they don't count anyway?

Anyone know?

Thanks! Best of luck to all. Visiting that embassy is no fun at all!

You have 90 days after your fiancé enters the US to get married. After that your marriage, you can take as long as you want to file for AOS but keep in mind that the longer you wait the more time she'll have to stay at home waiting to either work or even get a driver's license. And yes, the fee is $1,010 for all three forms the I-485, I-765 and I-131.

Hi George, that's too bad about your interview. The good thing is that you'll be able to go back with what they're requesting. Yes, you and your co-sponsors will need to fill out the I-864 with supporting documents even if they told you your income cannot be used.

Okay, it seems we have a bit of a problem.

Miss DeathNova went to Banco de Credito to pay for the visa and they're trying to tell her that her passport document number (the one embossed on the cover) is her passport number and not the number that actually says "Passport Number" on her passport. Maybe i'm retarded but they're trying to make her fill out two new DS-156 (didn't know it was the banks job to do anything but take money and carry on) with the passport document number.

I told her to go ahead and do it just to get the receipts and then bring both to the embassy to ask for further instructions. I'm assuming i'm correct here or did I just mess up all of her forms by typing the "Passport Number" as the passport number?

In the grand scheme of things, if there is an error once shes at the embassy will they allow her to fill out a new form on the spot or will they send her home?

Sounds like a plan, DeathNova. Go with the flow on that one since the bank personnel are specifically trained by the embassy on those numbers. Nevertheless, taking both forms is not that bad of an idea. And they can only charger her once for the visa application, not twice.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

DeathNova thanks for the heads up!!! Alexandra will arrive in Bogota on the 24th and stay through the interview on the 28th. I will let you know if she runs into the the same thing at Banco de Credito.

I personally think they're full of garbage. I just don't want them screwing her up and being in a pickle at the embassy. I've never known a passport number to be anything but the number dead smack on the face of the passport.
