Verify this information with the USCIS because the only military expedites I've seen here on VJ are related to people who have a deployment date or who will be deployed during the process.

If you do qualify for this kind of expedite, you can still file for CR1 and they will expedite the whole thing not only at the USCIS but at the NVC as well.

Thanks for making me feel a bit better...I am doing all I can to not make Alexandra stressed. I hope this is one of those things that one day I can look back and laugh. At the moment I am feeling crappy about it....it is tough when you know what you want to do and can't. Love conquers all!! I actually have not given up on going for the interview it is only a wee bit bleak.

We sent Package 3 by fax on Monday. Is it true that they'll actually send an e-mail confirmation or do we just need to wait until the end of the month to see the case pop up on the web site? They claim they update the appointments on the 15th, is this accurate?

I'll be keeping Discovery (my spaceship) away from your DeathNova...

We did not receive any email that the appointment had been set. A letter was sent to my then fiancee and myself in the States, but I already had the interview list on the site just before receiving the letter.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

We did not receive an email either. Alexandra received a letter and then I received one well after the fact. I called DOS to see when the interview was set and then verified the appt. online

Jeff,

Never wait for the embassy to notify you, they some times do and some times don't. So the best thing is for you to find out the interview date yourself, especially because a lot of times their web site is not updated on a regular basis and also because that list is rarely accurate.

So here's the deal, usually the embassy will schedule your interview for the following month if they received your paperwork before the 15th of this month. This means that you will probably get your interview for February so you can start calling the Department of State at (202) 663-1225 to find out the exact date. They'll have this information ready for you since their system is updated automatically as soon as the embassy schedules the appointment. You can start calling Monday if you want and every other day after that.

Okay, great. I might even begin calling them today for good measure. Miss DeathNova wants to send the package Servientrega for good measure but I suppose that might not be necessary.

Greetings to Colombia!

I posted in the CR1 forums but did not get a response to one of my questions and now after pre filling out some of the stuff we were able to fill out now I formulated a couple more questions that maybe you guys can help me with. I noticed in the I 130 example form on this website the petitioner lists himself in section C (17. List husband/wife and all children of your relative.) Wasn't that suppose to be info about your fiancee or spouse?

Also the I130 package checklist at the end states to include evidence of bonafide marriage? Does anyone have any examples of what they included? Adry and me of course are not married yet and do not have items 1-4 on the evidence checklist. So we have to go with affidavits and any additional evidence of an ongoing marriage. This leads me to believe you have to send in your receipts of your hotel and airline accommodations, chat logs, and or a photo album. That would be one big package to send or am I mistaken? Give me your thoughts about that part. Also and lastly the affidavits that you have your friends and family complete do those have to be signed by a notoriety? Just curious.

Thanks mis amigos.

Coffee,

Question #17 of the I-130 asks to list the names of husband or wife and children (if any) of the beneficiary, in this case your wife. So you would put your name down because you will be her husband when you file for her CR1 visa.

As for evidence of a bona fide marriage, basically a copy of your marriage certificate is all you need but you can also send them a couple of affidavits from friends or family members. These don't have to be notarized. You can save any other evidence for your interview.

Does the mail system suck that bad in Colombia? I called the DOS almost 3 weeks ago and my fiance still has not received the packet 3 which they said was sent out by the embassy. I guess I should just say forget waiting and just have her fax the papers to them. We are getting the last of paperwork but her mom cannot find the baptismal certificate. Does anyone know of the importance of this? I know it says optional but I would rather have more documents than less.

In my opinion it's not optional. Mainly because the day of my husband's interview the lady who was in line in front of us was told to make another appointment so she can bring in her baptismal certificate. It may sound silly that they ask for this document but the thing is that there is a ton of people in Colombia who do not register the birth of their babies but do get them baptized due to their Catholic upbringing. Therefore a baptismal certificate is a back up document certifying the birth a person in Colombia.

If your fiance's mom cannot find it, all they have to go is go back to the church where she was baptized and ask for another one. Make sure it has marginal notes. If they can't go themselves, anyone can go get it for them.

And yes, the mail system in Colombia is absolutely horrible.
