Ok it seems I am still waiting for my packet to arrive in NVC.....I have already give Alexandra a jump start on what she needs. So she is getting her photos and I am helping her filling out the forms online. I would like to know where is the best thread which can help me with the process starting now...any advice? When they send the packet instructions only then can she make the medical appointment...it is quite a bus trip from Cali to Bogota and I know she will need to do this 2 times. Point me in the right direction to an active thread so I can get some questions answered please. Thanks alot!!!

You're in it. All you need to do is start reading from page 1 and you'll get all the information you'll need. Your fiancé can start reading the Colombian K1 thread located in the Latin American forum which is all in Spanish.

I hate to rehash this after reading the other answers....but with regards to vaccinations Alexandra has no records of her childhood shots. She would like to hand the completed list to the doc at her medical. What is absoultely necessary? I do not want them to try to take her money for uneeded vaccines. Thanks again!! Anyone who has just been through this know what is required?

"Tude"??? Puh-lease. I'm an angel everywhere I go.

Well, we all know that PBH is more "relaxed" than here, and Visajourney and all other members were so incredibly helpful to my husband and I while we were going through the process that I feel good helping the new peeps.

Gotta umph the "tude" here though... B)

Troy,

These are the vaccines that she will need to get her visa: TD, MMR and varicella. She can get them done at any place she chooses as long as it's not more than a week before her medical or the doctors might say they're not valid.

Also, for her AOS she will need these (if at all):

Rotavirus (children only)

Hepatitis A (not needed unless they've lived in an area where Hepatitis is easily contracted)

Meningococcal (children 2-18 years-old, people who are or have been exposed to meningitis)

Human papillomavirus (women, uinder 26 years of age)

Zoster (people who are over 60 old)

If you see that she needs any of these, it would be a good idea to get them as well and have them approved by the doctor in Colombia. It will save you a headache for sure once she files for AOS. The most common one would be the HPV vaccine, but again, only if she's under 26.

Hi,

In taking a look at some of the forms i potentially will need after the NOA2 is approved, i noticed on the downloads page:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1forms

that i can print the DS-156K form, but the link for the DS-156 seems no good- i think i will need that one for the Embassy interview. Anyone know where to find it?

As a side note, I saw where Scott posted back on December 12, 2007 (page 219)

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...572&st=3270

that he took the DS-156 filled out in English and had to re-do in Spanish, when he went to the bank to pay for the visa application fee- is this usually the case?

Thanks much,

Joe

Hey Joe

Actually, the DS forms should come in Packet #3 from the Embassy. If you want to send this stuff in when they receive the paperwork from NVC, then try here.

We also submitted the forms in Spanish but it was assuming all communications at that step would be done with my then fiancee in Spanish.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Actually packet 3 is just a letter with instructions for her to follow and they will be in Spanish. You can find copies of the packet in the US Embassy in Bogotá web site: http://bogota.usembassy.gov/fiance-apply.html

Thanks Diana! This "journey" is something else and i am not even one month into it! I am heading to Pereira for Christmas and was wondering if there is anything I can do in preparation / anticipation of things....I will bring her a copy of the I-129F I submitted. Also, I think one thing she mentioned was that she didn't have a copy of her Baptismal Certificate- she does have original Birth Cert. Maybe we need to persue getting that? Oh well, patience is hard to come by with me, but this site sure helps!

Joe, you have plenty of time to get all the required documents for the interview. But the following items you can gather ahead of time.

Police Certificate (Certificado Judicial)

Migratory Certificate (Certificado Migratorio)

Birth Certificate

Baptismal Certificate

Look for a Packet 4 to see what exactly you need. It's been a while since I went thru this process so things may have changed bro.

Good Luck

Lucho

Thanks Diana,

Alexandra called Bogota and ask the doctor with which she will schedule her appointment and they told her 4 vaccines, I would think that would include the HPV, she is 26. It was classic Colombia she called 2 places in Cali and one said she needed 4, the honest one, and another said she need 8, the one that wanted 400.00..lol. My package has been sent from NVC enroute to Bogota and I think I have everything ready to go just waiting until Bogota receives it to fax and courier the docs they need to schedule the appointment. I have seen some people referencing copies of the entire I-129F packet being needed at the interview but isn't that what was sent from VSC? I sent the I-134 and could email her copies of the I-129F if they need it again for some reason.
