Hello all,

I am having a small issue, it is near our interview time, and I don't want to mess up this easy little form.... does anyone out there have an example of the I-134 with a child on it ?? I just need to ask you a few questions and maybe you can walk me through it if you would be so kind. I have asked a few questions on the site, but nobody that answered has any info about the form with dependents.

Thanks!! John

Thanks a lot Diana. The person who filed that petition was also delayed a little bit in receiving the NOA1 so at leat i am not the only one that that happened to. I´ll keep on checking the uscis.gov website and hopefully get the petitions approved and sent to the embassy in a timely manner.

Sincerely,

Harold Paredes

My american fiance have a criminal record (about 10 years ago but this case was closed and not longer there),?

...this can affect my fiance visa process?

Impossible to say, but my guess would be that if an American fiance has a felony record - especially one involving child abuse, sexual abuse, sexual assault, or a record of bringing in foreign spouses to obtain residency here - there will be a closer look and a better chance at rejection.

My friends... I finally have some great news to report. On Aug 15th, my case was forwarded to Bogota! And now I am the proud owner of a BGT case number!!!

Yes!! I am happy, very very happy. I know I should probably save my excitement for the interview, but hey, a little dance after all that my case has been through doesn't hurt.

Ok... just wanted to share this with you and warn everyone that I will be requesting your help as far as documents, forms and such. I can't afford to make any single mistake!

Thanks and have a GREAT week!!

Kelvin,

I am applying for a K3 visa, so I am no expert in the CR1/IR1 process. Nevertheless, I am pretty sure you do need the letter from DAS. The instructions on packet 3 read: "Entries and exits to and from Colombia for the past 10 years. This document may be obtained in Bogota at the DAS Office located at Calle 100#11B-27, Edificio Platinum". Somewhere I remember reading they take between 24 and 48 hours to give you the document. If I were you, I would get this document just to be on the safe side.

Now, I have a question about form DS-2100: do you think it matters if I give them an address in Colombia where we can get correspondence, but this address is not where my wife lives? (she lives in Mexico, but we'd like to receive our correspondence in Colombia). In other words, in all the forms where they ask where my wife lives, the answer is Mexico; but in form DS-2100 "Mailing address for appointment letter" do you think it matters if we enter an address in Colombia?

Thanks,

Juan Carlos.

Kelvin,

You need to go to the Department of State web site to see the list of documents you'll need to send with the DS-230. Just pick Bogotá and click on the applicant's civil documents link.

The letter you're talking about is called the Migratory Movement letter or Carta Migratoria from el DAS. She will need this for her interview, you don't have to send it to the NVC.

Juan Carlos,

You will need to give them an address in Colombia so they know where to send packets 3 and 4. Even if they never arrive because of the mail system, they'll need to know where to send them to. By the way, make sure to follow the shotcuts for faxing/mailing packet 3 to the embassy and that way you'll get an interview faster. Or at least you'll take care of it even if it doesn't arrive.

Thanks for your advise, Diana. Yes! I intend to use the shortcut and I have no intention what so ever to involve my lawyer in this process. I am currently tracking DHL's progress...

As some of you may know, I've spent the last four months of my life in two different forums: Juarez and Colombia. This experience has made me realize how lucky we are to have this Colombia club for those of us going to Bogota. What really makes the difference are all the "oldies" who stick around and contribute with their expertise. Diana, CG, Parkpapa... thanks for staying around and sharing your thoughts!!

I agree. I was just as lost an anybody else who starts browsing endlessly for whatever answers they can find. And this thread was and is extremely valuable.
