No hay de qué. If you can, try being there for the medical/interview part. The longer you can stay, the better your chances of bringing your SO with you back to the States on your return trip, if your plans will accommodate such a treat.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Hello, all,

My fiancee sent packet 3 reply to the embassy a couple of weeks ago. So far she hasn't gotten a reply.

However, I, the American petitioner(!), got the interview notice from Bogota (!) in my mail a couple of days ago. It's in Spanish and it's just the interview notice, no "appointment package", such as Med. Exam info and stuff. The notice seems to be adressed to my fiancee, as it says: bring this notice to the interview.

While we're certainly happy, I'm wondering: does this make any sense? Why would the American Embassy send the notice (without the actual packet) to me? Did they make a mistake or is my fiancee going to get the notice (plus the whole packet) soon?

Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

Regards!

I wish I had packet #4 stuff scanned... check into this thread's extensive history and you'll see the documents they send as Packet 4... Colombian mail is not exactly the most reliable.

The important part is that you have an interview date (good). Now would probably be a good time to schedule the medical stuff and any other certificates you need to get for the interview.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

They send packet 4 to both, petitioner and beneficiary, or at least that's what they should be doing. I received ours a couple of weeks before my husband received it. But as maviwaro said, the mail system in Colombia is horrendous so don't be surprised if your fiancée never receives it.

Thanks, Maviwaro!

But I didn't get any packet4 instructions, I just got the notice-- one sheet of paper. Does that make sense?

We already have all the documents so I guess the only thing left to do is to schedule the medical. How far in advance should my fiancee do that?

It is standard protocol. I received my letter a couple of weeks ago and it was the same one page letter for the interview. Andres though got the packet a couple of weeks before me. Check out my timeline and you will see when our info was received.

You may want to call up the embassy and request another packet. She may even have someone pick it up for her. The most important thing in the packet is the invitation which you already have in your hands. I'll check with Andres tonight to see if the Invitation letter I received is different from the one Andres got.

Kind Regards,

Diana

Fear not- I also received the notice. The actual packet 4 I received days before flying out for the interview, and by then we already had everything we needed by reading through here.

Someone said in the Colombian K1 thread that the embassy changed the OF-169 with the DS-2001 and that this form along with the DS-230 can be filed electronically.

Can someone verify this information for future members?

Ok...I'm in the process of rounding up all the evidence of our relationship. Im having one problem with skype, I cant seem to figure out how to print the history tab info on skype. I've resorted to making screen shots of our conversation history but its turning out to be a pain. Does anyone have a simpler way of getting the blasted info off of skype?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks soo much!

OK, thanks everyone for your help!

She just got the packet-- all wrinkled but aparently everything is in order. Funny that it should take longer to travel a few hundred miles than a few thousand.

I'll give an update!!

I'M STRESSING OUT! hahaha...I travel to Colombia this coming Wednesday and I cant wait to get on Colombian soil and see my hubby again...Gosh its almost been a year since I last saw him.

I arrive on the 15th around 2:00pm Colombia time. Then all the "vueltas" start! Lab then Dr. Gonzalez..then visa payments...and on Thursday, the 22nd, our interview!

One question...how many passport pictures does Andres need again? Im assuming 6 but I think I read somewhere 8?

Thanks ahead of time....and wish us luck!!
