ok...I have a question for you guys. Andres' Dr. Gonzales appointment is on 5/19, which is a Monday. When should we go to the lab to get the labwork done. The Dr office told us we could go latest that very same day to the lab and that they would get the labwork before our 12:45 appointment. I kinda dont trust the receptionist due to other miss information which I will touch on later. Just to be on the safe side should he go to the lab the Friday before? So it will have time to get to the Dr?

Another thing...Andres is worried that vaccines given days before wont count for the medical. I'ved tried to tell him it will be ok but when he spoke to the receptionist at the Dr's office she stated that any vaccines given before no mater how many days before wont be valid. (this even made me worry) I just need reasurance that if Andres gets them done at the red cross the Tuesday before his medical they will be valid.

Let me know!

Man, oh man. If I read another post where the receptionist of those freaking doctors is saying vaccines are not valid if they're more than a week old I'm going to blow a gasket. Seriously.

Ok, if Andrés' doctors appointment is at 12:45pm on Monday, I don't think the lab will have enough time to process his lab results to have them delivered at the doctor's office on time. So if he can go on Friday, it'll be easier. Or he can make an appointment with the doctor later in the day for that Monday.

As for the vaccines, he should be fine as long as he has them done no more than a week before his doctor's appointment. Many people in the K1 forum had them done cheaper somewhere in less than a week before the doctor's appointment and were just fine. Others had them done at the doctor's place to be safe. It's a personal choice really but my point is that they shouldn't be "forced" to have them done there, you know?

Thanks Diana...

I totally agree!!! Im both shocked and disgusted that the receptionist would scare a patient into having services with the Dr. Its a shame there isn't a way to complain....or alteast I dont know of one directly. Andres has a friend at the Red Cross in Tulua that is offering to give him the Vaccines for free...I told him it would be foolish to spend whatever rediculous amount the receptionist said if he can get them for free!

How long does it normally take from the time Packet 3 is faxed to the embassy until an interview is scheduled? We faxed in our Packet 3 over two weeks ago. I have spoken to the embassy twice since then and they said everything looks fine but that we still haven't been scheduled for an interview. I just talked to the visa office and still no interview. Is this normal?

Also, we have an issue that concerns me. We were married in San Andres by the notario on June 11, 2007. This happened to be a national holiday and the paperwork wasn't officially registered until the next day. Unfortunately, the person entering it filled out the date for the ceremony and filing date incorrectly as June 12. We have tried to get them to change it, but they won't. When we sent in our case to USCIS, they told us to fill the forms out with the correct date of June 11. I sent an addendum note explaining the problem as part of the I-129F and I-130 packages and we were approved without any hassles or RFE. However, I am a little concerned that this may cause a problem or delay at the interview. Has anyone dealt with something like this? If so, what was the outcome?

Thanks,

CG

Hi Diana, I would get done the lab on friday, just to be safe. About the vaccines, i got all shots on Dec 27, almost 3 weeks before my doctors app. and had no problems with dr Gonzalez. Do not worried about that, you will be fine

Giiiirrrrl please! If he's getting the vaccines for free, he should go with his friend's offer, no ifs or buts about it. I would not give these doctors an extra peso since they're trying to get money out of the already nervous people who have to get their medicals taken care of. If he gets them the week before his medical, he should be more than ok.

Well CG...

To tell you the truth it looks like they are taking a little longer than normal. Andres Faxed and mailed packet 3 on April 3 and we had the interview date less than a week later. I called on the 9th and they told me that packet 4 had been mailed on the 8th. So...it took a total of 3 business days...5 days in all.

You might want to consider refaxing? I dont know...

I have read in this thread mention of a letter referred to as a "Declaracion Juramental" which has been used at the visa interview to resolve issues with missing or inaccurate baptism certificates. Does anyone have a copy of this and would s/he be so kind as to send me a copy?

Also, I apologize if this has already been covered, but I noticed tonight that the Bogota embassy updated its packet 3 and packet 4 paperwork within the past few weeks. These may be useful to those such as myself who are obsessed with being proactive.

Well, We got some good news today. I called the DC visa office and found out that our appointment is scheduled for June 19th. We are a little bummed out because this may mean that we can't be together on our anniversary of June 11.

I am going to go ahead and call to make appointments for the lab and doctor exams. From what I've seen around here, it seems like it would be OK if my wife started getting her vaccinations ahead of time. I would hate for her to have to get them all at once during the medical exam.

Is there anything else I need to take care of that I'm forgetting?

Thanks,

CG

CG for the lab all she has to do is show up early in the morning to have them done. And make sure she doesn't have her vacs done more than a week before the medical or those doctors will charge her again and give her a double dose.

ColombianGringo, no te preocupes! You only encourage a fool when you pay them attention. If he gives you too much trouble, you can report him - if it really is a "him".

By the way, I just looked at your wedding photos. Bonita!!! My wife and I honeymooned on San Andres. Those pictures of white sand beaches brough back some wonderful memories. I hope we can go back again sometime, though a trip to Panama may be happening first. We need to look for a place to live after I retire in a couple of years. Colombia would be cheaper to live in, but the security outside the three major cities is worse than questionable right now.

Buena suerte!
