Thats what i was afraid of...i dont think i have all the 1040's and the w2's......as for the DS156, we are meeting in Panama next month so ill give it to her there  ...Now im worried bout these tax forms..i have to start searching...lets say i dont have them , is there a way to get them??

Byron,

The tax transcripts from the IRS are actually preferable to your own copies. I could write anything on a tax form and send it in. The transcripts are "official" and are from after the actual submission.

Charles

Diana

I'm with Diana.....................Paola will be there. I am hoping for the best. I reserved a room for her with Colombian Services, Bob and Luceneda, the owners. Paola says that if she is denied again that she does not want to talk to anyone. LOL. Bob is a great guy, American, living in Colombia, married to Luceneda, a Colombiana, good folks. Anyway, as I said I am hoping for the best. Paola has some fear. She will be staying untill Monday to pick up the visa if successful. I want her to be around people who care and we can trust to support her. I want to be there but I can not, I just do not have the time or money.

This next week will be a very long one for me. Man, after so much waiting, so much stress, so much hope, only to come across an unseen and unexpected problem, and now a second interview!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On top of that, I am not there.

Only those that dare to take on this adventure can comprehend what it really means. I am convinced that we have so much over all others that just fall in love and get married. We overcome many of the hardships that make others fail before we are even married!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss my little queen.

Good luck Diana, Paola and I are with you all the way.

Diana and Paola,

I want you both to know that you are in my prayers...I, as well as others here in in VJ understand the emotions that you are feeling right now,

and how important it is to you to be sucessful in your journey. I think as "real" people, us VJers have a "real" desire to find happiness in life...that starts with the help of God finding our soulmate against all odds. Just remember that you are not in this alone and we are here for each other together as one. May God Bless you both.

Boy to I need help...OK here's the deal...went on to Bogota embassy website to fill out packet 3+4 forms and email them to Yenifer...DS-156 no problem, DS-156K will not allow me to save but only print, DS-230 can not be modified online just print blank to be filled out manually, and finally does OF-169 still exist if so where and is it still necessary? What the HELL...am I just stupid or what?

You're not stupid, Scott. There seems to be no rationale behind how to use or print the various forms. We ended up filling in the 156 by hand at the embassy! haha

As for the OF-169, I believe that is simply one page of the packet (#4 I think) that you complete to be sure you have all of your required documents in order. It's basically a checklist, and I don't think you turn it in anywhere. Again, the location and purpose are not clearly identified by the USCIS. You should find the form number at the bottom of one of the sheets you have.

If I had input into USCIS operations, their poor coordination and use of forms would be one of the things highest on my list of suggested improvements. However, as a (state) government employee, I recognize that changing government operations is like trying to turn the Queen Mary - WITHOUT a rudder! It ain't easy and it takes forever. :innocent:

Thanks Charles,

I found the OF-169 on pg 5 of the packet 3 instructions and as far as getting all fancy pants and filling out everything online I think we will take a step back to save the frustration and fill the forms out by hand...I brought 2 complete packets of 3+4 to Yenifer on my last trip to Colombia (2 weeks ago)

so I think we will stick to plan "A".

Scott

I feel you on this one. The instructions on the I-134 indeed do say that you need tax returns, but only for the last year, not 3 years. Also it says that these tax returns are needed as evidence if self employed. I believe the idea of providing the last 3 years of tax returns or transcripts came from the form I-864 which is also an affadavit of support and carries more weight than the I-134 because it is a legally binding contract. You will need the I-864 when your future wife applies for Adjustment Of Status.

I-134 Part C of the instructions

C. If self-employed:

1. Copy of last income tax return filed;

Packet 4 also says 1 year, not 3.

Packet 4 for K1 Visa applicants

(12)Pruebas de sostenimiento. De su prometido(a) : “Affidavit of Support” –

(Forma I-134) carta de empleo y declaraciones de renta (1040) del último año.

This is where the idea of the last 3 years may have surfaced from

I-864 Instructions - Part 6, #25 on page 8

You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopyfrom your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additionalreturns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopiesof your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years

.

Regardless if the form says 1 year, i'd go with 3 years. Tax transcripts are very easy to obtain. If for whatever reason you do not want to submit 3 years of tax returns I would do the following. Submit only 1 year of tax returns with your I-134 to the CO. However the other 2 years keep with you in a seperate folder just in case they request them. Like I always say, better to be over prepared than under.
