AHH got the link, yes I had the same problem because there is another son however we married after his 18th birthday ( did not realize the law ) and his I-130 is denied. This is a little touchy to say the least. From a conversation I had 2 weeks ago with my husband she will allow the kids to leave, however come to find out she is already an LPR ( then why did she not bring the kids under her petition? could be money ) anyway . If I can not make the interview they will go with their Mother with letters signed by bith my husband and I authorizing her to be able to get into the embassy with the kids. The Visas are I thing IR/CR of a USC as they are my step kids so it is a little differnt.

If anyone else has any input it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so Much Bill Y Bella

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Hi,

mmm sort of confused here. Did your husband's ex-wife come to the states thru the petition of her new husband that has LPR status?

Have you tried going the V visa route for the 18yr old son?

Yeah, me too. Did Mom come back to Colombia to take care of the kids after Dad married a US citizen and went to the US?

Sorry to be so nosy but with what I heard so far, if I was the CO I would have a lot of questions. It is better to talk about the questions here in advance then wait for the kids to get hammered in an interview.

Yeah me too never really got the whole story ( hmm concern? ) That is what I am trying to explain to my husband that the kids may get grilled , I am at the breaking point with this and I am kinda scared also. I know the Ex just received her immigrant visa in FEB 2007 ( after waiting 2 years ) of this year, kids were not applied for due to lack of a sponsor from the other end. We are going to do whatever it takes to bring the 18yr old, however my husband is stuck in name check. Our I-485 was approved on 8/23/07 and now we play the waiting game. I will have a serious conversation with him tonight. If I am being taken for a ride let me know NOW, as it is I am super emotionally involved. Dad has been in the US for 6 1/2 years so far, we started to get all his papers going in April after we married. hmm we will see how it goes once the kids get their Visa and go from there. I am happy there are places like this.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Well, everyone, thanks again for your support and patience, to all the new members, all I can tell you is that without this forum things would have been more difficult, the knowledge and information here is enourmus.

Now for the details: To begin with, I can only tell what went on during the interview date since I was not present for the medical/lab, the only thing I can say about that is that they do not ask you for the 156 form, but they do ask you to take your letter form the embassy, your passport and a couple of pictures , one for each exam. Also when you make the payment to the bank they will place the sticker in front of the passport, I will tell you later what needs to be done with this sticker.

INTERVIEW DATE:

We got there at 5:30am, there were only like 8 people in front of us, the first line is right at the corner of the embassy next to the fence, around 6:30am everyone starts moving to the entrance were they have the designate numbers 1, 2 3 rows for the different types of visas , we went to number 3, from them again the waiting until they speak thru the speakers and let you know were you need to be.

then again thru the speakers they let you know what you need first, which is only the letter and passport , we waited there til approximately 7:30am, this when they tell you to look at your passport and get the sticker off it and placed them in the back of the form 156, you have to place the sticker under the signature, this are the duplicate form you will get in packet 4. Then someone comes and ask you to see your letter and they will place a round sticker on you, for K visas they will place a green sticker on you and they tell you that when you go in inside you must go to area 40, which is just another row in there. You wait there until a girl ask you huddle up so she can give you specific instructions about the order of your document that you must present at the window. they will provide you with a folder which in this case is a brown one., in the folder they have the order of the documents, this is the same page you get in packet 4, but is glue to the folder. I n this folder you only place in there the documents in a specific order, passport, birth certificate, baptism certificate, etc.

then you wait until they call you an tell you what window to go which are 28, 29, 30, 31, at this windows they will check your papers and ask anything that is missing, which in my case they ask me for my 2006 income tax, and they also asked for my divorce certificates, which I had brought with me just in this case, but when they looked they already had them. They asked my girl a couple of question such as my address here in the states, my name, and her name and birthdate., from there they tell you to go and wait at window # 2, and to start getting ready your proof of relationship papers, such as pictures , letters etc.

Here the waiting is long just at row 40 we waited like 45 minutes, then at window 28 we waited for another 20 minutes, at window # 2 we waited for an hour until they called Viviana and ask for her finger to be printed, back to window # 2 and here is were you must be very patience, because you see hardly any movement, plus the cold weather takes a token on you. Eventually she was called at 10:55am, that was it, in was the moment of truth, we both approached the window (5) and she went to the phone (by the way the interview is done thru a glass window with a phone on the side), well, the lady inside ask greeted Viviana and ask for her name and birthdate, then since she saw me there too, she asked for me to talk to her, this is the funny part, me and Viviana had practiced hte questions that were given here in this forum, but we mostly concentrated on her answering them, but when I came to the phone she asked me my name, my passport, and the questioning began, she asked how did i meet Viviana, where, how long do we know each other, how many times I had been to Colombia, at this moment I also told her that me and Viviana had spent a week in Peru, this is when the lady got a little softer on us, then she asked where was I born, and where my parents were from, finally she asked my occupation , at the end she asked to see pictures, which I had like almost 100 of them, she went thru each one of them , asking who were the people in the pictures, now Viviana was next to me, and she doesn't undestant English, but she could tell what we were talking about, and she also said the names of the people in the pictures. That was it , nothing else, no moré proof of anything, our interview took 10 minutes, finally the lady told me Congratulations, your petition is approved, gaves a piece or paper with Viviana’s name on it and when to return, which is actually today at 3:30pm. After that we just hugged and kissed and left the embassy very happy .

That’s it, that was how it went for us, and now is just for me to wait for Viviana to get her school’s papers, and take care of some other stuff, but now this part is over, she will be here in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again to everyone that congratulated us: Lucho, Tony’s, entonces, Buck, Chester, Mononoke, Bill and Bella, and the rest of people in the forum...

Now I have a question ; I read somewhere in the past that we were supposed to paid 380 dollars at the embassy, did anyone that went thru the interview had to pay this amount, the reason I’m asking is because, I’m back in the States, and Viviana is going to pick up her passport today, and I don’t want it to be a surprise that she needs to pay this amount, she has no money right now, and I’m already here, so please let me know if any of you people that had the interview in the past month or so had to pay anything. They did not ask me for it when we got the approval at the window, and I left wondering, now I’m a little concern with this.....
