Hello!!! the Colombian license is good in the US (and in any country) for six months

to get an international drivers license in Colombia is easy and is good for one year. you have to call ACC Automovil Club de Colombia, to ask for the fee (i got mine 2 years ago, don´t remember how much i paid) you need Colombian drivers license, 2 photos and the money, it takes like an hour, and then they will give it to you, is a little book with your picture and some info in 5 diferent languages...

i hope this is good

saludos!!!

M

This is not true, everyone needs to check with their local DMV office. I called them a few months ago and they said that in Colorado a Colombian driver's license is no good. I believe Andrea told me an international DL in Colombia costs about $250K pesos, but I'll just have my husband start from scratch and we'll save that money.

As for the vaccines, we called both doctors last week and Dra. Gozález's office said they had to be taken within the last 30 days, and Dr. Roa's said 8 days. We don't buy it and since I'm going with my husband I plan on fighting that battle with the office. It may be a lost cause because they'll do whatever they want to do, this is Colombia we're talking about after all. But I'll raise hell for my own sake.

You go girl!

I agree that it makes NO sense that vaccines must be administered within 8 or even 30 days of the exam. As ar as I know, it is impossible to administer some vaccines that close to the exam because they require a series of innoculations.

Colombia is a strange place sometimes. Once Bella needed a document from a doctor. (Not visa related.) On the day that she was to pick up the document the doctor's staff told her it would not be available for several weeks. But you told me it would be ready today. "Sorry. Come back in two weeks." So Bella gives up and heads home. I get the doctor on the phone. Are the results ready? "Yes of course." Can Bella pick them up today? "Yes, of course." Is your staff aware that the results are ready? "Yes, of course." Is there any reason why they would not give them to her? "No, of course not."

So I call Bella and she turns around, goes back to the office and picks up the results. We still don't know why the staff refused to give her the results the first time. But like you say, this is Colombia we are talking about.

Hi guys, here getting updated with the weekend comments, as for what Lucho said to ask questions, well it is very true, that was how I realized that Viviana needed the DAS migration Document, I was thinking that maybe she did not need it, but the advise is even if she has not been out of the country she should have that document with her, because it's a requirement.

Now She will be in Bogota on thursday to get that paper, and with plenty of time before the interview, my question is how much will it be to get that document, the reason I ask, is that I'm going thru so many expenses that I was not prepare for, and still more to come...

I also want to say thanks to all the good people here that are always giving their support and wishes, thanks Lucho, Tony, Buck, and the rest whose name's I don't recall at this moment and my best wishes for you Chester since your interview is before mine...

About driving licenses, I can tell you that here in the States, well Florida, I know some people that are driving only with their international drivers license, but this document is only good for one yr., for all of you guys and ladies, that are planning to get their love ones here, the goal is to have them get what they need to start a new life here, make it easy for them, remember they are going to be depending on us, so my opinion is when they get here, teach them how to drive, if they don't know it already, get the book so they can study it, and give them a lot of support, remember they are leaving everything behind, so is going to be difficult and maybe sad for them, and this is gonna require a lot of patience from our part....

Well later ........................

Luish,

The migratory movement certificate from the DAS is not that expensive. It's less than $50 for sure and it's really easy to get.

Just as an FYI for everybody, I went to the Colorado DMV web site since I live in Denver and they had the manual instruction book in Spanish free to download. I downloaded it and e-mailed it to my husband so he's all ready to take the written exam. Check with your local DMV web site to see if they have it online, it'll give them something to look forward to.

Maybe things have changed. when i was there on a tourist visa and on a student visa, i was told that Colombian DL is good while you are doing your papers, is valid for 6 months from the first entry in the US (passport).

Good moooooring, Colombia club

Yesterday I was speaking to Yuly and ask me to ask you guys If the DAS Certificado Judicial has to have on there where the person is going. In her case she would put USA but is this needed. The reason we ask is because her aunt just was in the process to get a Spain visa and the CO notice that the DAS did not have that bit of information of where she was going (Spain), so they sent her back. So we are wondering is this the case for our DAS request.

She also asked if we needed the Certificado Migratorio or Certificado de entrada y salidad, or are they one in the same?

Can anyone help me out on this ...I will be reviewing previous post as well to see any info I have missed on this topic.

Thanks guys.

Rafael,

1. I'm not sure if the certificado judicial is suppose to have the destination country. I dont recall what Wendy's certificate said. I would put USA, but let's see if someone else remembers.

2. Certificado Migratorio is the same as Certificado de entradas/salidas.

 Man Thanx, Lucho, do you know if their expiration dates on these documents. I don't know when our NOA2 is coming it has been 81 days since NOA1 and no word  . so should we wait, I would hate them to go again and spend more money.

And I read that the Cert. de entrada y salidas has to be sealed a never open. Is this true, to let Yuly know this before hand.

Those docs should be good for 1 year, and even if something has changed and its good for 6 months....plenty of time.

That is true, the entradas/salidas will be given to her sealed and has to be brought that way to the interview.

Chester,

Hey would you like to post a list of all the documents that you are taking to the interview? That way some of us here can review anything that you may have forgotten. A checklist sort of speak of all documents, wether or not you have them 'autenticadas', 'notarized', etc. This will help you out a lot. Sometimes we think we have everything and the 1 minor thing we may forget. Just a suggestion.
