Lucho, a question.....My girl has only been out of colombia once, and it was only for 5 days, when we went for a vacation to peru, I know she has some kind of document, because she needed it to get her passport, I don't know if those papers are from the police, or the DAS, all I know it's like a card with her fingerprints, now is it really necessary for her to get that DAS document? does she really need the DAS record for out/in from colombia??, or will they just look at her passport and see that she was only 5 days away from colombia.....if we need it, we still have time, because her interview is for September 10th..,

Luis,

1. She will need the DAS police certificate (certificado judicial, a little green book)

2. She will need the certificado migratorio from DAS as well. (entras y salidas)

Regardless if she has or has not traveled outside of Colombia she still needs both certificates. If you need to get the certificado migratorio and you live outside of Bogota....it will be a close call in receiving it in time before your interview. I suggest getting that taken care of in Bogota, 4 days before the interview.

Luis.......................I can tell you from my recent experience..................you MUST have all the docs and certificates required on Pkt 4. There is no way around it. If you do not have them your visa request will be delayed, your fiancee will cry for hours, you will feel like ####### and all the effort, time and money you have invested will be for nothing. Do whatever it takes to get the Migration Certificate.

On another note................I just spoke to a man here that had his interview on Friday, he had 150 pics, the CO said they looked fake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He asked him how many times he has been to visit his GF, he said 7, the CO asked her, she said 7. The CO then told him that she said 14 times. She then proceeded to grill them over and over. They had tons of phone, email and other evidence. End result they have another interview next Wednesday. The point I am making is that you need to have everything perfect. It all depends on the CO.

Buck,

But did they look legit? How where they together? Becasue it is odd that there are some that have 2 min interviews and out the door others a mountain of eveidence and get denied. I think all of this is case by case. Thats my feel on it.

Luish,

Your fiancée DOES need both DAS documents, police certificate and migratory certificate to take to the embassy on the 10th. If she goes to Bogotá on the 5th, she won't have time to ge the migratory one. She needs to be in Bogotá on Monday at the very latest so she can have time to do all this, as well as her lab and medical stuff.

Rafael,

I will not get into the vaccination policy or procedures. Wait until your fiance receives packet 3 and see what it says to do. The current packet 3 on the embassys website does not mention a change to vaccines. However, I did see a mentioning to a change, but for a different type of visa, not K1.

The DAS paperwork and birth certificate do NOT expire in a few weeks. The DAS paperwork is good for 1 year. The birth certificate does not expire at all.

Here is the packet 3 for k1 visas link

http://colombia.usembassy.gov/wwwfck1instrucciones_temp.pdf

Lucho,

This link for packet #3 worked for me once but no longer works...also the link for packet #3 on pg 111 did the same thing, worked for a while and then stopped working. Exactly where on the website can I find packet #3?...I can only find packet #4.
