Byron. If you have a copy of Pkt 4, I would start gathering all of the required items now. Depending on where your sweetie lives it can take a long time to get some of them. It took Paola over a month to get her Police record and over 2 months to get the Certificado de Migratorio. Once you applications leaves UCIS things can move very fast. If we would have waited we would not make the interview date. Good luck

May 2006............ I go to see Paola for 5 days and propose marriage

Jan. 24th, 2007....I-129F sent to CSC

June 25, 2007......Paola receives Packet 3 (9 days late)

July 3, 2007.........Packet 3 Fedex to Embassy in Bogota

July 5, 2007.........Packet 3 arrives at the embassy in Bogota

July 19, 2007.......Called NVC, interveiw scheduled for Aug. 17, 2007

Byron,

I will attempt to answer your questions.

1. Have her call the labratory in Bogota where she is suppose to get the xrays done. They will know for sure if it is ok for her to have her xrays done at this stage of her pregnancy. (i'm guessing no). Also relate to them if any of the required vaccines will be a problem.

2. No, it is not too soon to get all the documents ready. Have her get her passport first, certificado de policia, certificado migratorio, fe de baptismo, registro civil, passport style photos (get 6, not 4). Have the required documents certified or provide originals like packet 4 will instruct you. Get the vaccines done as well, if the lab/Dr says its OK. Make sure what is on her passport is exactly the same on ALL other documents (registro civil, fe de baptismo, etc). Such as, her date of birth, place of birth, all names must match etc. No discrepencies.

3. If the copies you downloaded are from the embassy website, you 'should' be good to go. Just have her verify that eveything is the same from online and what she receives from the embassy herself. I'm not sure if you will be sending the docs by courier or emailing them to her. Nevertheless, she can fill them out online.

Remember, the embassy has made some changes in the past month. Do not always rely on what we tell you and what is said on the embassy's site. We all have good intentions on giving you the best and most accurate advice, however the embassy often changes things around. The packet 3 and 4 that she receives will be what you have to go by.

Byron,

Cheaper as in you wont have to pay to ship the documents. Thats what I meant. The 1040 you get from wherever you do your taxes at.

My I134 included the following and had 0 problems

A. 3 years of tax transcripts, 2004, 2005, 2006

B. 3 years of W2's and 1040's

C. Employment letter

D. Last 3 months of paystubs.

If you are going to the interview, no need to send all this paperwork to her. Save your ####### some money man, you'll need it later for the lil one ;)

Byron,

The 1040 for is one of many forms that individuals use to file their tax returns. Some individuals who are single and don't itemize use different variations of this form. Since you've requested the Tax Transcripts, you will not need to worry about the 1040 form. The tax transcripts are more than enough for this purpose.

As far as WHICH forms to send your fiance, several of us have PK3 and PK4, each of these lists the forms you need. You can be confident that those are what you need. If not, the bank, doctor or embassy will have copies of the correct form. Don't stress out about that.

You're lucky, your fiance lives in Bogota and she should be able to assemble all the required docuements in 1-2 weeks tops. I'm sure your preparation will payoff well in the long run.

Another thing is that I strongly recommend attending her interview. Here is a what the vice-consul wrote in her email to me just one month ago:

"Although there is no requirement that the petitioner be present at the interview, the Embassy strongly recommends that the petitioner accompany the beneficiary to the consular interview, particularly for a spousal or financee interview. "

LOL

Byron, I agree with Lucho. I didn't send anything ahead of time via courier because she could just download everything for not much cost. (whatever the printing fee is). Send her the forms via email and say, "print a few copies of theses" and then you will both have the same document. There's really nothing you need to send to her via courier ahead of time if you're going to the interview, and you have a lot of time for that.

I also suggest, make sure you keep her involved in the process. split up the chores and keep a checklist. It'll keep you sane. Make a list of everything you have to do and decide who will do what. You don't want her to feel like she's a passenger here. That's what we did and it worked great. That way at the end of every week you can say, "ok, did you get the xxx document? did you call the lab? ok, I got xxx and xxx" let's move on to this." it really helps keep you sane.

LOL

Dre

Wow Dre, I don't think I saw you post that little gem before. I think that email should remove any doubt about whether or not the petitioner should attend a Bogota interview.

Now reading between the lines, do you think that also means they are eager to have the petitioner there so they can play he said / she said like they did with you and Oscar?

By the way, it looks like the embassy info page needs to be updated. It says the petitioner may NOT attend the interview. Visa Journey Embassy Info

Thanks!

Bill
