Hello all,

A few questions came up after reading people's timeline at NVC.

First, once the K3 is approved, it is sent to NVC, correct?

Do K3 applications go through the same steps as CR1?

Do we require I-864 and AOS and DS 230 and all?

Does anyone have rough processsing times at NVC for K3 application?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks all!

K3 does travel from Missouri to NVC. Our petiton was at NVC for a short time, I think no longer than 2 weeks. They are the mailing hub at NVC for K3 and does the forwarding of the cases to the different embassies. K3 has no processing there. The support papers will be needed at the embassy.

Good luck in the rest of your journey!

All petitions/cases regardless of which visa one will apply for, are forwarded to the NVC.

The K-3 is a non-immigrant visa where as the CR-1 is an immigrant visa. The process at NVC is completely different.

A petition for a K-3 visa is generally only at the NVC for a short time to be assigned a case number and undergo a name/security check. It may however be held up in these security checks before being forwarded to the consulate. A K-3 petition can be at NVC anything from a few days to months, but on average it is a week or two.
