Dear Anyone in the Same Boat,

I am self employed and looking towards petitioning for my Jamaican (almost) spouse. 2 questions:

1. About how long after sending the I-130 will the I-864 come.

2. What line off my 1040 or Schedule C do I take to fill in line 23 of the I-864, the affidavit of support? This is the more important of these questions, because my TOTAL INCOME (line 22 on the 1040) is less than 125% of poverty, while my GROSS INCOME (line 7 off the schedule C) is above.

thank you!

The affidavit comes when the person is invited to apply for the visa in ja or when the paperwork is sent to the nvc office, however if you work say 22 to 25k per year and its only the two of you, then you r good to go. good luck as for that line I do not know because my hubby is the one who did my kids and he works. good luck and dont worry because if you are not at the levelyou should be then get a cosponser simple.
