Hello All,

I have a question regarding primary evidence.

Recently I returned from a trip to Syria, where I was visiting my fiance.

I started getting some papers going on her end in order to get this visa process going.

One of the requirements from the Syrian Govt. was that I have some kind of proof of religion since the US Passports do not exhibit that.

So I had to write up a sworn statement to the US Embassy in Syria and swear to my religion in front of the Vice Consul.

She stamped it and signed and dated the statement.

Can a copy of that be admitted as primary evidence, as it shows I was actually in Syria during my trip?

Also, I will be providing an itinerary, engagement ceremony pictures, as well as phone call records.

Entrance and Exit Stamps from passport - they are in arabic and I see no way to translate those.

Im the kind of person that loses stuff all the time...so something like the stub of my boarding pass...i dont have.

They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

I'd be inclined to think that the statement you have would be a good piece of evidence, since it places you in Syria. Can you print out the ticket again if you got it online? The stamps on the passport are okay in any language. We didn't have ours translated. Having the itinerary's definitely good.

Phone call records aren't considered as proof of having met, they're proof of communication, or ongoing relationship. Some people advocate that sending proof of ongoing relationship is a good thing at this state, some think it's not necessary. It's up to you.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Yes that could be evidence that you were in country on that date and time.

With everything you have including pictures, passport stamps etc, you should be fine. Anyone that can translate the passport stamps can do it. See below. I would attach a translation just to be on safe side.

(a) Document Translations. All documents submitted in support of an application or petition must include complete translation into English. In addition, there must be a certification from the translator indicating that the translation is complete and accurate and attesting to his or her competence as a translator. See 8 CFR 103.2( (3)." - bolded by me

(thanks to mew for this excerpt)

Phone records, are not evidence of having met.

Aside from all of the evidence im providing...including legit photos of placing wedding bands on each other's fingers....I should have enough without the airline tickets right???

Provided that these pictures do not give them the impression that you were getting married (please, please, be super careful about that, it could give them grounds for denial), I think you're good. Get pictures, itineraries, stamps on passport, the statement you mentioned and I think you're good to go.

STRONGLY SECOND MEW'S STATEMENT HERE, BE VERY CAREFUL OF THOSE PHOTOS.

I would strongly recommend not showing anything that could infer a marriage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd state clealy in the cover letter, and write on the back of the photo that it is the ENGAGEMENT ring(s), and also, include a receipt for the engagement ring(s). I think if done properly, it could actually be a big plus on your application. I have read in other places, and I was also told by an attorney with whom I consulted before filing my petition, that evidence of an engagement ring(s) were a big plus on your I-129f application. Regarding your tickets, the travel agent should have a copy of your purchse in his computer. Additionally, try to get 'frequent flyer' credit from the airline directly, and you could use those milage credits as evidence for your trip. The airline might even be willing to respond to an email with specific reference to your trip. Try emailing the customer service unit with your flight numbers and dates to request frequent flyer mileage, and then attach that to your response once the miles are added.

I would guess that given the given the current relations between the USA and Syria, you might be in for a long road ahead, but let's hope thats not the case!

It will be interesting to see.

GOOD LUCK!

Bill

Definitely! If you have an engagement ring receipt put that in, but nothing to do with wedding bands!

LOL...thanks guys...

I do have a receipt...but funny enough...the items on the receipts are labeled..."wedding bands"

So...should I still include the pics?

So...should I still include the pics?

Take a look at them and don't send any picture that would slightly look as you two were getting married to avoid any problems.

Buying wedding bands, or any other type of ring is not evidence of having met.

No need to include them you have enough evidence.

Make sure your answer to question 18 how you met is organized and well written, keep it down to a page or less. Paint the picture very clearly how you met in person and where.

Add in the evidence and you are good to go. Dont over load them with worthless evidence that proves nothing.

Thanks dwar49 and everyone else who has helped me out.

Im sure im good to go, especially since I just got a copy of my ticket from the travel agent to add to my evidence.

You are absoluletly correct....adding a lot of worthless evidence might actually hurt me instead of help me.

I will not be including the pics of our engagement ceremony nor my ring receipt.

Thanks again to all...
