Good to know. For others looking ahead what crossing did you use and did they ask you to provide evidence of your ties to Canada?

I assume by crossing you meant visa type ? In that case it was a B2 Visitor stamp (which has always being). They asked where I work in Canada, I am not sure if they actually can search for it on their record. I guess if I just told the officer I was going to visit friends, he may let me go rightaway without asking too much questions.

Any idea how long should I wait before they schedule the interview ?

Actually I was referring to which border crossing you used.:)

Montreal still seems to be backlogged, although not as much as they were 6 months ago when the wait was upwards of 4-5 months! This thread in the Canada forum tracks CR1 timelines to interview. It will give you an idea of what you are looking at as far as the wait goes. Good luck!

Hi All,

I have questions about traveling after CR-1 is issued. Hope this is the right place to ask the questions.

I have read that after CR-1 is issued, it's valid within the next 6 months. Let say my wife (the one with CR-1 status) enter the US within the 6 months period, can she then travel freely in and out of the US before getting her green card from the mail?

Second, we are thinking about living outside of the US after her CR-1 visa completed and issued. I understand that we have to have the CR-1 status remove before our second anniversary. Does that mean that we are free to live outside of US before it's time to adjust and remove the CR-1 status? In another word, does she has to be physically present in the US in that 2 years period before the CR-1 status adjustment? We just want to find out what are our limitations are after the CR-1 is granted.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Bucky

I am a US citizen and living in the US right now. I am wondering if it's possible to work oversea, say a year or two after the CR-1 completed and issued. So are you implying that both of us have to be physically living in the US before the 2nd anniversary?

You might want to start a new topic on your situation, get some input. Usually, if yer not the OP of a topic, and ask a question in someone else's topic - it gets limited exposure.

Yup, with B2 Visitor visa, I have came back from the state for over 3 weeks.

A month almost past I havn't heard anything back from the NVC regarding the interview date. Usually how long should I wait for the schedualed interview ?

Whew ! Glad you weren't in some holding cell at CBP !

Montreal is lagged. A LOOSE GUESS is 3 months between 'case complete at NVC' to 'appointment date set', then appointment for interview to occur 3 to 11 weeks past 'appointment date set'.

But that's just a guess - a verra LOOSE guess. Check in with the Canadian forum, study some CR-1 Canadian timelines (from yer portal link) and try to figure it out, eh ?

Good Luck !

Its ok to travel, i did!

Hi, I noticed on your timeline that you received your NOA1 on Feb 5th 2010 but the hardcopy was received on Feb, 8, 2010. How did you receive your first NOA1 - via email?

I'm a little concerned because I mailed my I-130 on June 9th 2010 (it was delivered on June 11th) and I still have not received my NOA1.

I would appreciate your reply.

Thanks so much,

Debby

NOA-1 always arrive via postal mail. You could have filed the Form G-1145G as well (check the I-130 guide, is a reference there )

That NOA-1 could arrive anywhere from 2 days to 90 days, depending on mailroom ops and the data entry krewe . Relax a bit .
