By US law, cats do not require ANY shots. Only a visual check by a veterinarian at the POE.

Alla brought a cat and a dog with her. The dog needed a rabies shot and a helath certificate to LEAVE Ukrinae, NOT to enter the USA. She bribed the official at the Kiev airport at got the certificates to leave. Which means, she gave them $100 and they let her through.

When she arrived she showed the rabies vaccine for the dog and nothig for the cat. The animals were not inspected by any veterinarian and they wer aiting for her in the baggage claim office. No problems.

It was a good move, this is not a K-1 topic, it is an animal import topic and will best be answered by people from Ukraine/Russia. There are no restrictions for cats coming into the USA regarding vaccinations.

What kind of special vet do you visit that can give your cat the ability to fly? Are the wings artificial or are they transplanted from some kind of bird? Do they use different birds for the transplants depending on the size of the cat? Regardless, it seems like a long way for a cat to fly without getting tired and falling into the ocean.

The question was serious and your reply very rude and malicious. You have a problem with the animals accepting???

It depends from country to country. I've got the passports to my cats, chiped them and vaccinated against rabies. We had an obligation to come a few days before the flight to get the stamped vet confirmation in the passports that they are in a good condition to travel either in the cabine or like a baggage.

Our POE was Washington and nobody asked anything about the cats. We went through the customs without any question about their passports.

Well, the reason i asked the question was i had spoken to KLM and they told me that "Masha" the cat would have to be inspected and have papers in order to fly. I read this link, www.ukrainesf.com/consular/english/pets_en.html after that i was trying to locate a vet in Anna's hometown (Kirovograd) that would do the same thing as in Kiev. Thanks Gary for the post. You know i am just trying to cover my bases here. You and Alla are a great help to many people here.

$100 for the bribe? Jeez that seems excessive. Russia has similar laws regarding the exit of pets, and I got my two cats checked out, vaccinated, and their travel docs for less than that...

That was for tw animals on the day of departure at the airport. Not a position of strength, to be sure.

To the OP. Your fiancee can take the cat to ANY vet in Ukraine and get the rabies shot and health check, then they send the records to Kiev and she will receive a health certificate from the grand pooh-bah of vets in Kiev. THEN when she leaves someone at the airport in customs will tell her that her papers "are not in order" and she will have to give them a bribe to let her pass.

She won't have any problem entering the US

I was neither rude nor malicious. I'm sorry you either do not recognize or cannot accept even a modicum of humor. Have you always had anger issues?
