Hello to all VJ friends

We are so excited about our coming soon interview in Juarez but also nervous about what is coming. I called today to Juarez's Consulate and they told us that K1 instructions packet was sent on May 13. They also mentioned that we have an open appointment. Is this mean that I can plan to request my vacation for the first week of July so I can go with my fiance to her interview? Is this Open appointment has any time limit? Can I made flight and hotel reservations with out fair that the embassy will not be closed or something?

Sorry to ask too many cuestions but I want to be carefull specially for everything that is happening in Juarez. Does any body that already went to Juarez Interview can tell us how prepare ourselves for this interview? What hotel do you guys recomend? Is safe to go to eat to nearby restaurants? How long is the waiting for the visa if approve? How many days should I reserve to stay in a hotel?

Again sorry for just dropping my bombs of cuestions but to be honest I'm so freak out about going to Juarez for all that I see in the news everyday. I know that I have to put my fears on the side and just go and take care of that but in the meanwhile I'm just thinking about going there and making sure that we can cover everything and staying safe.

Im going to fly to El Paso from LA and my fiance is going to fly to Juarez from Mexico City. Is safe for her to just take a taxi from the Juarez Airport to the hotel with out been worried that something happen to her? Is safe to take a taxi from El Paso to the hotel crossing the border with out been worried of anything?

Please any advise of any kind is greatly appreciated. Thanks. God bless to all.

Hello there,

It looks like we're about three weeks behind you guys. I don't know why it takes so long for Juarez to process and get that appointment letter out...looks like 6 weeks is about the average. If Juarez says they sent the appointment packet/letter to your fiance, you should be safe to go ahead and request your vacation time, book flights, etc. Especially if you're not planning on going until July. If worse comes to worst, since they're done processing your application but you haven't received your appointment letter, you can obtain a copy at the consulate itself when you arrive there (go early). In this scenario, go one morning to the consulate to get your appointment letter and then go pay banamex the $131.00. The next morning go for the medical and the following day go for the interview.

I'm in San Diego so I plan to cross the border into Tijuana and meet my fiance there. From TJ we'll both fly to C. Juarez. I just didn't like the thought of her flying alone (she's never flown) let alone flying into C. Juarez alone.

We plan to stay at the Holiday Inn Express that is really close to both the medical clinic and the consulate. I looked yesterday at the rates and it's about $65/night. What we plan on doing is flying into Juarez on a Sunday, go to the medical first thing Monday, and then go for the interview Tuesday. It seems pretty iffy on whether or not they'll get the visa that same day as the interview so I expect to be in Juarez at least the following day (Wednesday) and wait for DHL to get the visa out. So at a minimum I'd plan to stay in Juarez at least three days (4 nights in the hotel). Hopefully we can get out of there Wednesday afternoon and not have to stay another night but I'm not betting on it. I'm sure we'll end up staying Wednesday and being able to fly out back to TJ on Thursday.

Look through the giant Juarez Consulate thread and there's a few recommendations/links to escorts people used in getting from El Paso to the consulate...I think one guy can actually get you a better rate at the Holiday Inn if you use his services. Other than that, try not to go at night, be careful and always be on guard. If your fiance has flown before, she should be okay getting from Mexico City to C. Juarez and then taking a taxi from the airport to the consulate. Again, try to make flight arrangements so she's not doing this at night.

We plan on eating mostly at the Holiday Inn 90% of the time. Maybe for lunch go across the street to the little strip-mall over there but I definitely do not want to be out of my hotel room anymore than I have to.

Hope some of this helps. Good luck!!

Thank you amigo Ltotosam for your reply. It feels good to know that you're not alone and that others are going through the same process. Since we were notified from NVC that our case was send to CDJ we were very ansious waiting for the appointment letter, especially because I did not see my fiance since I proposed last September. We are so excited  planning our trip to Juarez (just bcause Juarez is the place where my fiance will get her visa and then we'll be together and not becase is the a great city to vacationing) and because we will met there and see each other after all this months.

I think is great what you mention and will try to do that. Medical one day then the interview. Hopefully we do not have to wait too long for the visa. I made reservations for the whole week just in La Quinta Inn ($50 dls per night) many VJers recommended. They can even pick you up from the airport. I think that is great!

I think I'll do the same and stay at the hotel and I'll have breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Like you said hopefully everything is done in 3 days!!!!

Once again thank you. I think is great all your advise and the best of luck. I'll let you know how it goes!!!!

The best for you guys!! Everything for LOVE!!! :D

Hey guys we're in the same situation here, we just found out last night via online research that he will have to travel to Ciudad Juarez. That's got us both really nervous and we have no idea with what money he can even get up there. I am wondering specifically if it's possible for them to send the passport and visa through DHL to a location right within Ciudad Juarez, that way he could possibly just stay there until he gets visa in hand and could cross the border there?? We don't know what to do, because we don't know anyone there, and he has no money to do all that, AAAHH help!! We were so excited about his coming soon now that we got the second notice of action but this just put a weight on our shoulders and he's starting to wonder if maybe we should just get married in Mexico and forget about living in the States :(

You all should read through this thread. Yes, it is long. However, it has lots of info about the procedures at CDJ now, and some people that recently went through there posting about what it was like and what is needed.
