1) Soooo, does anyone have any idea why one way tickets cost almost twice as much as two way ticket? We were looking around for prices and it's going to cost him...$1600 to fly here from Buenos Aires!!! Yikes. I'm only paying $900 for two way tickets.

2) I'm planning to fly down to Argentina to go get him and fly back together to the US, to help him bring more things, and because he's never flown before and is really scared of flying.

Anyone else ever do this before? Any suggestions?

Thanks all!

Many people buy a RT and just don't use the other half. A one-way generally costs more because with a RT, the airline is 'guaranteed' revenue for both directions. On a one-way, they have to make up revenue. I have heard of people finding one-way deals, but that's often lane-dependent and luck has something to do with it....

Going to help him is a great idea... bring an extra empty suitcase to help him bring his things back!!

Yeah, buy a RT. Or have him look for a one-way down there at a local travel agent. They are sometimes cheaper locally.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Good point! I'll try that.

What I'm really struggling with is trying to make sure we're both on the same flight. I wonder if it's even posible

Why do you think that'll be a problem?

Wow, I thought this was off topic since it's mostly about me trying to buy the ticket???

Anyway, I don't know if i'll be allowed to buy the ticket for him or if he has to do it in Argentina. It's so much cheaper to buy it here..

when I buy tickets to Peru I buy them from a company IN Peru and fly down from the US, come to think of it I have not boughten a ticket to go to Peru or from Peru in the US yet :).

When Silvia came here we bought a RT ticket for her I guess she like me because she never flew back to Peru ;)

You can buy your tickets from anywhere in the world, that does not matter at all.

I encountered this same probbo when I was coming back from the UK...my orig return tick was expired, so it was either one way or RT and not use the other portion. I wanted to buy a RT from Fl and use the second leg of it, but was told that if I didn't show up for the first half of the tick, the second would be invalidated.

Dunno if that was just a specific situation, or not...so call the airline!
