Hi there,

My fiance had his K-1 interview today and was tentatively approved. He did not have a military certificate because he never served, but at the interview he found out they wanted it anyway. So after the interview he went down to his local town hall (in Belgium) where he was told by the embassy he could get one. Problem is the town hall no longer issues them. Instead my fiance was given an official letter from the city with the stamp and a copy of the new law, which is the reason there are no more military certificates. Should this be sufficient? He has to go back to the embassy tomorrow and drop it off.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

It should be fine, otherwise I presume the embassy and/or the town hall would have given him more options.

If the paper states that he didn't have to serve, I think it's all the embassy wants.
