AOS Interview (We are still stunned!)

Hello Everyone!

After all the struggle and "not hearing anything" for 6 months, Liam and I had our AOS interview in West Palm Beach on August 3.

We were successful and were told we should receive Liam's Conditional Permanent Residency Card within 7 to 10 days (the officer also stated that it could be 2 months). The Officer stamped Liam's passport with a one year temporary Residency stamp and took his EAD card.

We are still stunned that the interview went so smoothly, but luck was certainly on our side; our officer had just come back from vacation, so she was feeling renewed (albeit overwhelmed, as she was an hour behind in interviews and was already loaded with 12 cases by 9:30 in the morning) but presented herself as businesslike and was very thorough.

We were prepared (I spent 2 nights getting originals and copies together) and have everything labeled with post it notes so that whatever she asked for was easy to find.

Were were with her for about an hour, and the only thing we did not have with us was the original of our life insurance policies (when we got home, they were on the sofa...it had fallen out of the briefcase!) but that was no big deal.

At any rate, no mention of an FBI check (Liam and I have been "together" for nearly five years, and he has been back and forth to the states 7 times since 2002 before he came to stay...I have been to Ireland and Northern Ireland twice over the past 2 years). Liam already had police clearance from Northern Ireland and Scotland Yard...so maybe that's why he didn't have to go through the FBI name check in addition to being here since August 17 of last year.

At any rate, I wanted to take this time to thank all of you here at VisaJourney for your wellwishes and input. You were of great comfort to me and full of useful information.

I'm sure there was an FBI namecheck performed on Liam during the time you've been awaiting your interview. They probably just got it done on time like they are supposed to!

I thought the same thing about the FBI check. It would make sense that the check may have been done over the past year. but who knows with them. Everything is subject to change as it always has been, particulary in the government.

Today, we received the approval email/notification that the card was being mailed (3 emails, to be exact...they probably have a virus in the system).

We will wait for that before we go to have Liam's social security card and driver's license changed.

Today, we received the approval email/notification that the card was being mailed (3 emails, to be exact...they probably have a virus in the system).

Too funny -- I get three copies of every email they send to update my case too! I guess three is better than one, but it doesn't matter because they all get snagged by my spam filter, and I have to go retrieve them after seeing the case updated on the USCIS website.
