I replied for a Request for Evidence (a missing g325A) last month and today I checked our status on the uscis site and it says:

Post-Decision Activity

On May 12, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

But she hasn't gone in for the interview at the Embassy there....and I never sent the originals to her... How can this be? It would be great if true but I'm thinking they made a mistake.

Do they sometimes forgo the interview in light of evidence?? The only other answer is she handled the interview herself without telling me. I'll ask her later.. but its weird isn't it?

Nope - they never forgo the interview.

What this is telling you is that the I129F petition has been approved. Nowit will go to the NVC for a background check and then the NVC will forward it to the consulate. The consulate will contact the beneficiary and inform them what to do next (how to apply for the visa).

The interview will be scheduled later after the forms are completed and returned.

Congrats on your NOA2 (petition approval)!

This is normal for K1 processing. This just means that USCIS has approved your I-129F petition, and now, this petition will be forwarded to the National Visa Center, and then forwarded to the embassy or consulate in your Fiancee's home country . The US Consulate or Embassy will make the decision on the K1 visa. Read the K1 visa guides at the top of this page to educate yourself on the next steps of this visa process.

The interview and the embassy process comes AFTER the I-129f is approved. The I-129f is not the visa, it's only giving you the right to apply for the visa at the embassy. The petition will be forwarded to NVC then to your fiancée's embassy, then they will send her forms to apply for the actual visa. You still have a while to wait!

Better read the Guides and the K-1 Timeline again because you don't seem to understand the different steps in the process. There are documents you need to get together to send to her now before the interview and there are things she will need to do prior to the interview. Get moving.

Thank you every one for your responses.

I figured it out on my own that it was basically like we won the right to interview.

Still Super excited!

Anyone know how long she has to get her stuff together before the interview? I assume they must have some kind of deadline.

Oh I have read all that, and just was confused that there are several times things are "approved" I already have all the originals in a packet ready to go and the affidavit of support too. Anything else we need?

Wow there are some hostile people on here!

Timnliza - we thought the same as you when we saw that on the uscis site. It is all super confusing. Ignore the people telling you to keep reading (obviously you must read up!!! I just mean that some people assume it is all so easy to understand) There is a lot to prepare for the interview, and you can get started now. But a list, apparently, will come to her and you in the mail. You know what, USCIS are the unhelpful ones, no wonder we get confused! The people on this website have mostly been great and full of advice.

As far as I am aware it can take another 10-12 weeks to get an interview date. We got our NOA2 on May 4th and then got a letter on May 15th saying our application had been sent to the embassy in London.

There are so many different words for it all, I totally understand how you got confused.

Good luck with the rest of the process!

Well, basically you have as much time as you want. They send you a checklist, with everything that is needed. Once you have all the needed paperwork, you send the checklist (and some other forms) back and then they will evetnually give you an interview appointment.
