I will need a co-sponsor and am wondering if that can cause any problems with the US Embassy in Moscow at interview time?

has anyone had good luck or bad?

I've had good luck, but I don't think the system is based on luck. That would make it too unreliable, unpredictable and too many people would be upset with the inconsistent result. A proper co-sponsor who meets all the requirements of the sponsor should not be rejected as part of meeting the financial support burden.

thanks for the reply, Satellite. at least it has worked once then! my co-sponsor meets all the requirements but I was told that the embassy would not always accept a co-sponsor, even a legitimate one, and I am hoping that information is wrong.

I was a student until recently and do not begin to meet the income requirements, though this year I might almost make enough but the interview should be before the end of the year I HOPE. anyway the idea that I could go back to zero because Moscow won't accept a co-sponsor has been worrying me to say the least.

It might be a problem once you get here. As my wife tells it, her forum is FULL of wives bitching about money in one form or another. Most of it falls into the "I'm here, so you can pay all the bills AND give me allowence" or "I'm here, so you can pay all the bills, and I'll get whatever job and spend the money I make on me and whatever I want - and you can still spend money on me too." Some of the stories she tells are just unbelievable.

Cheers!

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

nfs, if you were a student until recently, but now have a job, you may not need a co-sponsor after all. If your annual income is going to be above 125% of the poverty level, even if you haven't made that yet, an employer letter that verifies that you will make that much should suffice for "support" purposes.

Crunch the numbers, and see if your salary is going to be above 125%. If so, have someone in your company (HR, maybe?) type up a letter that says something like "nfs recently joined our company after graduating from VJ University, is an employee in good standing, and his annual income is going to be approximately $XX,XXX.XX. Any questions, please feel free to call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX. Thanks, HR Guy. Company."

Once they see that you WILL make that much money, they should be OK with that.

If you have a good co-sponsor already lined up though, better safe than sorry, but it may not be necessary.

thanks, slim. I don't know if that will work, but I'll try. I get the impression that people don't use co-sponsors very often.

one more year and I probably wouldn't need one.
