Stapling the check to I-751

How did you folks package the I-751, the cover letter, the check and the rest of the documentation. Did you all use the binder clips or large paper clips? Anyone used the prong fasteners?

OR

Is it OK to staple the check to the I-751 form and then use the prong fasteners for the entire evidence/documentation including the I-751.

For those of you who do not know, what are Prong fasteners

Thanks.

I stapled all the documents separately i.e. house documents stapled together, bank documents stapled together each also had their own cover sheet with the document name. For the check I just put it in the packet in front of all the documents. I would not staple the check to anything.

We wont staple anything, only because , as I recall from this whole process, uscis didn't like anything stapled. Must be a metal detector there or something.....or they don't want to get stuck/remove staples. Anyone else can chime in on this? MHO

We used a paper clip to attach the check to the I-751. Everything else was punched on top and held with prong fastener.

Don't punch holes in the check. It can cause the check not to clear. Holes mean stop payment. I wouldn't risk using a stapler, for that reason alone.

Correct, especially with the heavy staples that would be needed to hold together a VJ member's typical 4 pound application.

We used a paper clip to attached the check to the application. Each statement was stapled together (bills, credit cards, etc...) and we didn't hear any complaints and no RFE.

It is best not to staple the check because they could rip it and either they won't accept it or the bank wouldn't honor it.... so stay on the safe side.

Hello Again.....ED*Riza!

As I recall we have used paperclips for every packet sent. That is what we have done, and it may not make a difference at all ....God Bless Us All who are in this process.

I believe uscis specifically tells us not to staple things. Imagine them having to unstaple millions of documents. Somebody will find a way to get thier finger pricked  .

I guess that's why they ask to write your A# on each and every document....

They did? I only wrote it on the cover sheet and I-751 form.

They recommend it but it is not essential - they will not reject your package without it. They recommend it just in case they mix files up or drop them (which isn't the reason they claim) then they will be able to sort them out... I wouldn't worry about it - we didn't write my A# on all pages and it went through just fine.

I didn't white my a# on each page either!

After weeks of planning, arranging and polishing my evidence packet, I fastened everything together with a prong fastener, with each section covering a certain category (e.g health insurance statements, bank statements, etc) and was planning on using tabs.. Only to go home and realize I forgot to use tabs! I was so mad at my self especially that they mention it in their instructions...I had more than 300 sheets of evidence and I was hoping they won't hate me. But they approved it!

My point is; it's good to follow their instructions (or preferences, per se) but don't think they'll deny you just because you stapled them :) In my case, i put the check in an envelope to make it visible enough.

Wife's I-130:

02/02/2021 NOA2 الحمد لله

You said 300 pages of evidence??? WOW .. My package is hardly 100 pages. Is this ok or not?? Now you are making me nervous.
