Sugar and Myra-keep me posted once yours are received and I will do the same. Emailed the Embassy this morning. My guess is I will just get some generic response about waiting a little longer. But- stalking and persistence have been the only way to get me answers throughout this whole process, so might as well keep it up! :)

Sugar and Myra-

Just wanted to keep you guys in the loop. Below is the response I got from the Embassy. I am hoping that the "final stages" means that they can release it to DHL by today or tomorrow morning so he can fly out this week still. Fingers crossed! Have you guys gotten any word back?

Good afternoon:

We are in the final stages of your fiance’s visa processing. We regret the delay, but unfortunately, there are required procedures that have be cleared before the visa can be printed. Please be assured that once the visa is processed, we will deliver it to the DHL agent for delivery to Mr. Green.

I sent it to consularkingst@state.gov. They have usually gotten back to me really quickly. Is that where you sent yours?

Another update: I sent them a follow up email to their first response asking if there was anyway that they could tell me if he would be able to have the visa in hand by the end of the week. Below is what I got back from them. Nothing really promising- but I am hoping!

I am unable to say definitively. If you send us an e-mail on Thursday, I would be able to tell you.

Does this hold/delay just apply to the K-1 visa or all visas because our interview is coming up soon and I plan to be in JM from 6/3 to 6/10 and I pray my husband receive his visa before I depart, so we could fly back togather, maybe I need to send an e-mail, I hope the Jamaican Embassy is not delaying potential visa holder because of the current issues that's going on now, because I have viewed other yardie timelines dating back to 2008 and it only took anywhere from 3 days to a week at the most for the potential visa holder to receive their visa in hand. I have also read other timelines in other countries and some received them back in as little as a day.

Based on everyone recent experience, I would not anticipate you being able to fly home with him, unfortunately. The only visa I don't think have this hold/wait period are tourist visas. My fiance got that one 2 days after his interview. But that is because they dont have to process it as an immigrant visa. I guess there is some processing they do after the approval that can take a few days. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that you are able to come home together-but I wouldn't get your hopes up. We have been waiting a week since our interview and it hasn't even left the embassy yet, and as you can see from a few others here, they have been waiting even longer. :(

Hi KH2010, this is so disappointing, because you wait months to see your love one and then BOOM this, I hate waiting, but I'm a strong believer in fasting and praying and I'm going to start because I need and want my husband to fly back with me. The longer he's there the more $$$$ it cost. I wish I could change my appointment date to after my kids get out for the summer, but it is what it is, I feel like paying $13.00 to call them and ask them a general ? about the delay and will this be the case in June, but I'm happy I was able to book my ticket for $309.00, please keep me posted and also can you go to the Embassy and pick up the visa or do you have to wait for DHL and also what is the cost for DHL so we have the extact change when we arrive. I will fast and pray that everyone receive thier visa by Friday. :star:

Bless-I know, its really frustrating! Our interview was on Tuesday and I left on Thursday knowing that he wouldn't be coming home with me, but definitely expected he would be back a week later! GRRR! You can't pick the visa up at the embassy- but depending on your husbands location you can opt to pick it up at the local DHL (MoBay or Kingston). I am not sure how much quicker that would be, but I know its an option once it gets there. The cost was $900 J for DHL. Not too bad. I'll be wishing and hoping for you guys too!

I am still holding out hope that I might check DHL late this afternoon and they have released it! Not likely-but I'm holding the hope :) I figure if released today, it would be sent to MoBay tomorrow and he could pick it up and then fly out on Thursday. I am really hoping for a Friday flight at the latest so I don't have to reschedule the party! :)
