Look, let me just say - if the POTUS was a relative of anyone on this board, we all would have used our connection to him to pull a few strings and make the visa process go faster. If you say that you wouldn't do that you are a huge liar.

Not everyone buys into the notion of open borders for the USA. This is not xenophobia. It is common sense and responsibility. The world is not some little hippie commune where people can come and go as they please and do as they please while communally sharing everything they own.

We're also not an isolated country that promotes protectionism. We allow American companies to operate outside this country's jurisdiction. We allow almost a free flow of goods to enter into this country from all over the world. Do we need need regulation of goods and people who flow in and out this country? Sure. But we don't need to get all worked up over the undocumented workers here who we directly benefit from. The ones that want to stay, make them pay a fine and give them some kind of work visa. That's the most rational solution.

You do know there's a difference between imported goods and imported people, right? Inanimate objects don't give birth to kids and then claim you can't deport them because you're breaking up a matching set.

The fine would only be symbolic as few would pay a high fine and if they didn't pay would you still deport them? Work visas would have to handed to all and anyone who could make it into the country so that's not feasible either. The reality is a tough economy and Federal programs like 287g are a start to getting rid of the criminal elements among the illegal immigrants.

Think about it, an individual not on the radar with respect to her multiple unsuccessful attempts for "asylum", who was rejected at every turn is suddenly approved? Meanwhile, A distant high profile family member is elected US President? Amazingly, her case was approved, despite the years of illegal presence? Go figure that one and advise....

I have thought about it. We all have snippets of information, and very few hard facts. People can and do overcome initial negative immigration decisions, and Obama's aunt has become one of them.

End of story, beginning of speculation for narrow political reasons...

Does she have to go through the medicals, humiliating interviews and endless form filling to prove she is acceptable to stay and months long waiting for the visa? She broke the law! FOR YEARS! That fact alone is grounds for deportation. She maybe legal NOW....but....she was a CRIMINAL before.
