Bring Back the "-1" rating

I saw if you don't have the mental capability to make a dissenting post, then you probably shouldn't be giving a "-1" either.

After all, it turns into a -1 flame fest for some people who cannot comprehend what they are reading.

The whole "-1" thing is a chickenshit way out of publicly voicing your opinion to have it be criticized just the same.

Depends on how you view it.

"Publicly voicing your opinion" is a way for some people to start a fight.

I'd rather just minus my way around the board when I think someone is being a flamer. Enough minuses, enough times, well you get the hint.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Another weekend comes and goes and still no resolution to this pressing issue. I give a big fat -1 to that. The levels of general f^cktardedness have now reached critical mass and only through the power of the -1 can we achieve something like homeostasis for VJ.

can we achieve something like homeostasis for VJ.
Homeostases (or is that homeopaths?) can now serve openly in the U.S. military, si man. And wasn't Homeo Huliet's boyfriend, si man?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

So, a way around this is to use a feature similar to the public polls - list the names of those that voted as a drop-down type list. That way, people will be less enamoured of simply voting just to be a noodge. ;)

Or, if you're me, it won't make the blindest bit of difference. :P

Pooky's idea could be supplemented with a "Today's Stupidest Posts" list, much like we have the Postingest Member list and Popular Topics lists. It would be fascinating to see any patterns in topic and poster that might emerge from that.

Edit: I somehow managed to leave out a verb.

Tell me that that function wouldn't be amongst the most useful on VJ. We could even give out a monthly Wooden Spoon award for the stupidest post as voted for by the VJ populace.

Something tells me we'd be able to pick a champion by the end of the year........... ;)

Not sure if you noticed, but Ewok did make note of this thread. Instead of adding the negative one he lowered the rating from 8 to 4 to get the popular star.

Of course, my Popular Topics thingy doesn't work, and I would expect Fvcktardiest Posts to.

I did notice today -- I thought there was a bug or something. I fail to see how this actually makes anything better.

Popular Topics and Chrome do not mix. It works fine on Firefox, but I'm all shiny Chrome these days.

Ah, now I understand, I am all about the Chrome now, too.

Wonder what Joyce, the Empress of Groovy, thinks about Chrome?
