Bring Back the "-1" rating

-1 ratings easily lead to situations (in many forums) where people can rate folks down simply because they do not like them; or with a mob mentality at times. I saw the abuse when we had it open.

You mean this post, Charles?

I happen to strongly disagree with that assessment. Personally, even if I dislike someone, I don't comment unless I see them acting up. I think most people are that reasonable. If they aren't, then the Moderators should be dealing with them.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

ewok's post #288 already answered that question.

See Ewok's post 296, know-it-all. He is willing to try in a more controlled manner.

You only oppose the -1 because it will undoubtedly apply to your posts so frequently.

i guess you'll keep badgering ewok until you get an answer that you like. and you only support it so you can use it in that manner.

Completely false, Charles, as usual.

Now, unless you have something meaningful to add to this discussion, why don't you go post some jpegs and leave the important stuff to the rest of us.

a month and a half of posts in this thread, totaling over 300 posts, of which you've been a part of since day one, and your continued vitriol towards me proves my earlier points.

This is a mature, circumspect view, si man, but there are just enough "unreasonable" people floating through the K-1 & other fora that some people's perfectly valid advice will be diminished by means of -1 scores. For example, there are several anti-Pushbrk members, and very likely several other anti-someone members. I know of one or maybe two who would think nothing of "dogging" me, woof man.

Perhaps an extra function could be added so that anyone who clicks "-1" would get a second screen that offers options for WHY the rater is clicking -1. This way, patterns of response (overall & by rater) could be determined, rather than operating via guesswork, si man. How does one run a test of something without standards for measurement?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Would one of the options be "Because I think this person is a douchebag"? laughing.gif

Valerie, you're not really helping the case. Even when we see a douchebag, we need to let them act like one first before they get a minus.

I am all for giving people enough rope to hang themselves.

No, if they provide sound, reasoned advice, I have no problem with them in the upper forums. And most of the ones that are, um, douchebaggy, are only that way in OT, so it doesn't count. I have found them very helpful regarding actual immigration stuff.

If there is going to be a test, I propose it be in three forums and not just one. IMO you would get a better overall feel of things. Also you cover more of the membership as people tend to "hang out" wherever they are in the process. In light of that, I would propose the K1, CR1, and AOS forums. I would speculate those forums also have the most traffic.

I agree with this.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
