You missed the point. Sure it a serious issue that needs to be addressed and thats what BP is doing but to act like the earth is doomed and will never recover is ridiculous. Some of those left wing loonies need to take a chill pill.

YOU missed the point - it's a bloody stupid thing to say. To suggest that a massive oil spill is no big deal is fvcking arrogant to say the least.

So lets frame the issue in hyperbole. That will make the local economies along the coast sleep better at night. This is another big F.U. to the fishermen.

Indeed - BP's response seems to be to try to prevent the oil from washing up on shore, but how exactly are they going to address plumes of oil on the sea-bed or what that's likely to do to marine wildlife over a wide area?

Oh now, stop with all your gloom and doom. The world isn't going to end so just smile and take it on the chin.

Good grief no ones saying take it on the chin. Just looking for a little perspective. ;)

Who or what has been said that was out of perspective?

...and what is the perspective of this oil spill that you find acceptable?

A lot of left wing loonies have been going on and on with the doom and gloom blowing it way out of proportion. Its a serious issue and BP is addressing it and rightly so.

I think a BP CEO making this statement is stupid but I dont find what he said stupid. He was giving some perspective.

Dude, who is saying what? Can you make a statement about it without making vague generalizations?

Erm Okay then Simpson. The planet is not going to disappear into a black hole because of an oil leak.

Who knew!?

Soooo.... the guy making the statement is stupid for making it but the statement itself isn't stupid...

What are you smoking?

I don't know if the earth is doomed, but I think that Florida might surely be. Our ecosystems were fragile enough as it is and now with this, we could be totally farked. Just sayin'.
