John Doe goes to prison for a sex crime. Gets 20 years. Sentence over, he's let out. He commits a sex crime again.

Now what do you do? Put him away for another 20 years & let him out when that's done?

It's a cycle thats not necessary & puts the public in danger.

To solve the issue (for me anyways) is to lock them for life...let them die in prison.

No serve time & get let out.

No serve time & get it extended.

Life.

These people are extremely dangerous & shouldn't be anywhere near the public.

It should apply to all drug dealers as well.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

To me, if someone has shown they will repeat their crimes (multiple offender) they should just sentence them to life.

maybe they should make the decision based on the victim of the sex crime.....example....anyone ever see up close and personal what it does to a three year old child when they are raped? I have, I have an elder sister this happened to....life as she knew it ended she will never be sane or lead a quality life........it is just as bad when and older child or women or man is raped....how ever a child like that can never get past it mentally or physically.....I am all for keeping in jail for life or giving the death sentence to those that violates a child like that

she was not his first victim she was his third

just my opinion

That ####### should've been in a jail cell since the first offense.

I think its brutal when you hear of cases of a person who repeats a crime. Entirely preventable.

Why should rapists (with a victim of any age) have a second chance???

Determining someone criminally insane just because of their 'desires' is absurd. They aren't necessarily insane, it's just that society doesn't understand/get their urges. There are many types of 'predators' that don't ever act on their urges because the consequences are too grim for them, but in all reality it pains the hell out of them.

Let's hear you say that the night you hold your first daughter in your arms.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

How about murderers? Is society any more safe when they are let out after serving their terms than when sex offenders (a very broad category, as has been noted) are released?

mostly from the search i have done rapist suffer from an addition much like someone that is addicted to anything ..........a murder i personally believe can be rehabilitated a lot easier than a sexual predator..especially if it is an accidental homicide ..how ever if it was premeditated nope never gonna happen they will not change.. i would love to see both types of criminals put to death.....first there is absolutely no way to know with out a doubt that either will or can be rehabilitated it cost us tax papers a lot of money to keep a criminal in prison or a mental facility.........we should we the very public that these two types of criminals terrorize have to pay for their ability to eat and breath? other types of criminals are more containable such as a thief or even someone that has committed a personal crime such as assault. they may very well be rehabilitated to fit into society and go forward with their life....

again this is just my opinion

Look No one here is advocating for the release of a convicted SO especially if they are considered dangerous.

This law is not new it is just reaching the Supreme Court who has decided that at this time the law is not unconstitutional.

Just like the AWA or SORNA(Sex Offender Registry and Notification Act)or somewhat different. This Act is considered a monitoring law which does not violate a persons constitutional rights. Which no one has successfully argued the validity of the law to the Supreme Court. The Act is only changing because of economic costs and of course in the name of being politically correct so no children would be mistakenly categorized with in the Act itself.

The slippery slope was started because of public persecution of anyone that stands against any law that is not politically correct such as Sex Offender laws; strong laws against illegal immigrants; or some laws which may be obsolete, etc.

Not just sex offenders but anyone with a felony conviction has such a hard battle after paying what we the people deemed their debt to society that they see no way out and most often revert to a comfort zone which may lead to recidivism.

The same goes for the statement that SO can never be cured and will always repeat offend. I say find me one study that says they will re-offend 100% guaranteed. there are none; I refer you to this link http://blogs.wsj.com/numbersguy/how-likely-are-sex-offenders-to-repeat-their-crimes-258/

in particular this part here "But even the author of a widely published report suggesting a recidivism rate of 52%, Wisconsin psychologist Dennis Doren, told me of the notion that all sex criminals are likely to re-offend, “There is no research support for that view, period.” Dr. Doren, evaluation director at the Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center in Mauston, Wisc., added, “You’re not talking to a bleeding-heart kind of guy here.”"

The treatment of someone convicted of a Sex Offense or any felnoy needs to change; the fear of someone that is a SO or the fear they present to the community must be handled in an intelligent way such. To lock them up indefinitely or for many years beyond what we the people have already deemed appropriate only manifest other problems. That is the precedent this law is setting. One of best ways to help rehabilitate someone is to help them enter society in a healthy manner supporting themselves and their families.

If someone is demonstrating risky behavior then intervention is needed.

I am for strong healthy laws that benefit the US citizens to be put in place not the enactment of further persecution of someone that was convicted of a crime. If there is a problem with the law then it needs to be changed and it should be changed by the people not trigger happy politicians trying to get votes for being politically correct .

I do respect anyones view even more so if you provide more than your emotions.
