Not trying to rub salt in your wounds, but what were you thinking? You allowed your fiancee get to the airport without her CFO? This is the exact reason I tell everyone to read the guides and the Philippine Forum.

Have her attend her CFO counseling and get her stamp and then she can leave the P.I. CFO can be a pain in the AZZ, but it protects the ladies from getting into a bad situation here in the states. I would rather have these ladies attend the seminar than hear stories of abuse and neglect that happen to some of them once they get here into the states....

ah I read the k-1 guides and it didn't say anything about the CFO seminar...she told me about the CFO when she was at the airport. ya its really good to get the added protection...especially since their are a lot of jerks here in the states.

What I meant was, the guides for different visas here on VJ. CFO is country specific. Just for the Philippines! There used to be a very good guide from Sheriff Uling that was pinned to the PI forum. Not sure what happened to it, but if I can remember right, it also mentioned the CFO....

Even without the guide, CFO has been mentioned in the forum many many times as a requirement for any visas issued out of USEM.

CFO is nothing new, you should have known. The only added information you need is to read the links given by members pertaining to the CFO Seminar.

To attend the seminar, you may proceed to either two of CFO's service providers: the St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation-Center for Overseas Workers (SMEF-COW) or the People's Reform Initiative for Social Mobilization, Inc. (PRISM).

As Filipinos going abroad as fiancé(e)s, spouses or other partners of foreign nationals, you are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling session in order to secure the Guidance and Counseling Certificate (GCC) and the CFO sticker. You need this certificate to renew or apply for a new passport at the Department of Foreign Affairs (per Department of Foreign Affairs Order Nos. 11-97 Implementing Rules and Regulations for Republic Act 8239, "Philippine Passport Act" and 28-94). You will also need to present this certificate together with your spouse/partner visa, at the Immigration office at the international airport on your day of departure.

They actually get info on the CFO at the interview.. I'm surprised she didn't bring it up..

they didn't tell her anything during or after the interview. I don't know maybe she was too excited or something.

The CFo is a bunch of #######, its a way for the Philippine Gov't to gouge extra cash. Simple a waste of time.

CFO is a waste of time & money but that's what the PI airport requires in order for 1st time travelers to get out of the country...it is a hassle especially if it's a big group or if you're far from a CFO location...but for the many times my family needed the CFO we just have this family friend of ours who knows someone who works there to just give us the CFO stickers w/o actually going there to do the seminar...she just ask us for one 2x2 pic & some money, she fills out the paperwork then she gets the sticker simple as that. That was most useful when we had 12 of our relatives coming here...she took all of their passports & requirements & got it done...but this is just based on our experience & haven't had any trouble yet.

when you recieve your visa packet the embassy usually puts in there a flyer saying that the CFO is required in order to fly

Waste of time or not it's a requirement...... Our own government has it's own hoops to jump through, when I think of what I'm getting in return I just ask "How High"

CFO is specific to PI, so it's not listed under the main K-1 process.
