For AOS, what type of TB skin test is required? The 2-steps Mantoux test (2 needles!!), or the kind where you get only one needle?

I'd like to get my TB test done here in Canada before crossing the border, but since I've been procrastinating (trying to avoid needles...) I'm running out of time for the 2-needles test, which takes a few weeks to complete.

I've had TB tests done before, but they're only good for one year. Sooo... I'm due for yet another TB test. Eeps.

Please help?

Here's a copy of the DS-3025, I don't see TB test on there. I can't find a copy of the I-693A online to check that, but I don't think it's on there either. I also don't recall anyone else asking about that particular vaccination before.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me :) but I don't think it's required.

What a min... you've already gone through the AOS process. Are you certain we don't need to get a TB skin test done?? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it'll be required at the AOS stage, but not when I enter the country as a K1 holder... *can't find link now*

The only thing I've been tested for is a titres test, I got that to prove the Measles/Mumps/Varicella and Rubella immunizations. I got that done in Toronto to bring to my K1 medical. Other than that, no tests

Hmm... ok, I found the link: http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/Medical_Exam.htm It's listed under the "Medical" section, but they didn't give me a TB test at my medical. I did find the I-693 ... from the instructions, it sounds as though the one they want is the one-needle test. But it's weird, because I already have the chest x-ray... so maybe I don't need to get this TB test done again? *confused*

Hehe, since you've already had your AOS, I shouldn't worry too much about the TB test! Guess I'll do the one-needle test just in case since it's free anyway...

btw, when you moved to the U.S., did you ask your doctors in Canada for all your medical records?

PS - On the I-693: "Exceptions:If you are applying for adjustment of status under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, you may choose to have either a chest x-ray or a skin test."

This applies to all of us, then?

I was just going to say, if you had the xray done you don't need the skin test unless something showed up on your xray. Check your xray, there should be something noted on it, or call the Dr. you went to your K1 medical for, they should be able to tell you if anything showed up. You can also do an advanced search on here for +skin +test, that will bring up all topics about it to see if you fall into certain employment categories that might need to get the skin test (nurse, etc.)

The only records I brought down with me are for the 'female parts' doctor, the rest I'll have faxed as needed (including dentist).

The I-693 is the medical that is done by the USA Civil Surgeon, since you're a K1 and had you medical already you will only need to submit an I-693A, the vaccination supplement.

The I-693 does require a TB skin test but you don't need your medical re-done as long as your file for AOS within 1 year of your K1 medical.

I'm not sure if my last post made sense, it doesn't to me as I re-read it

The I-693 does require a TB skin test. The I-693 is for those that need a complete medical done in the USA.

Since you had your medical in Canada, you do not need an I-693.

You will however need to submit an I-693A, this is a vaccination supplement. You will take a copy of the DS-3025 that you should've received after your medical (if you didn't get a copy call the doctors office and get one) to a US Civil Surgeon, they will transfer the info from the DS-3025 to a I-693A and you submit the I-693A with your AOS.

Yup, that makes sense :)

Just one more question in regards to timelines...

"you don't need your medical re-done as long as your file for AOS within 1 year of your K1 medical."

I know I've read up on this long ago, but I can't remember the exact info. Is what you mean by "one year" the time between my medical in Canada and the time of filing for AOS? Or the time of my AOS interview?
