Re-affirmed cases

As you all know, we got our pink off of a reaffirmed case. I have noticed recently that there are a number reaffirmed cases being processed. I'd like to list what we needed at the interview and what the experience was like. If anyone else has a reaffirmed case (pending or completed) , please let us hear your input.

What we needed

1. Affidavit of Support **Don't forget the Employer Letter

2. Police record

3. New medical Exam

4. DS-230

Tuyen's interview was short about 8-10 questions. The only thing they asked about from the previous interview was about friends. The other questions were about our house and my job.

We did not have to submit a time line or a list of Tuyen's relatives in the US. We had them prepared just in case though.

The overall experience this time was good. The CO was polite and complimented Tuyen on how well she did during the interview.

Notice the time between the initial interview and when the NOIR was received. It was a lot longer than a year.

That's kinda neat how you guys recieved NOIR and sent rebuttal on the same date, NQT1976 one year after Kevin & Tuyen. Hopefully your *approval will come well before March 12, 2011!!

Bring your I-864 Affidavit of Support to the interview. If you send it to the NVC you will be charged $70.00. When processed abroad there is not fee.

Regarding the I-864 fee ($400), I asked the CO when I was there and he said they do not require it. It's the same case from before and so there's no need to pay again. Do have the receipt, though.

As for rest, I don't trust them one bit. I've been down this road before. This whole process is like witchcraft trials. If they throw water on you, you had better not get wet...

I just did all of this very recently and I read everything stated in the instructions.

Basically, you need something to prove that you are currently employed. Taxes don't do that. Pay stubs help. But to make sure that everything goes smoothly, just get a letter from work to say that you are currently employed and making so many dollars, etc. HR usually does this often for rental applications so forth, so it's not a big deal for them.

I think you mean the IV fee of 400.00. And yes it isn't required again. There shouldn't be any fees that need to paid again for a reaffirmed case.

The Consulate told us to bring a I-134, but what they really wanted was a I-864.

I dont think they will do a new medical for free...so the updated medical and police cert may cost a few $'s
