Interview and Medical on The Same Day?

My fiance is from Northern Ireland and has to have his Interview in London. Is anyone in the same situation? He doesn't want to fly to London for 2 separate appointments. How does he go about scheduling his Medical on the same day of his interview?

I don't think you want to plan to do these on the same day, unless you can get a very late afternoon medical appointment. The embassy timing can be very long (HOURS!) plus getting around London, esp when you don't know your way around, etc....

I know it's really inconvenient, but London released a policy change announcement at the end of 2009 which said that you must have the medical completed before the interview, and if they found that you hadn't they were going to reschedule your interview.

So, that's what the policy says. Since it was a change in policy, we have seen people get through alright with their medical close to the interview, but the last time I paid attention to the timing was much closer to the change itself. We thought initially that there would be a grace period because of people already being scheduled, but if it's still not enforced 6 months later... I haven't heard of anyone being actually rescheduled, but I will admit that I haven't kept up with the London interview thread (you will probably find it useful - it's in the UK subforum).

The fiance visa process is not arranged for convenience. He need not make two trips but he'll need an overnight or two as he'll need to carry the medical results to the interview.

More than likely, he will want to come the day before, if not two. There are no authorized physicians anywhere near where L lives (the closest one is an hour's flight away), and we ended up going with a physician in Rio (where the IV consulate is in Brazil) that has a reputation here on VJ as providing same-day service. Also, with our physician, and our interview timing, there was NO way to do it same day -- the interview waiting period was from 7:00am - 12:30pm, and the last medican that's guaranteed to be done by 4:00 pm is at noon ... and there were still 4 couples after us in line. Check out the UK regional forum (or if there's a UK topic in here, I haven't looked) to get recs for a physician with a quick turn around time.
