Anyone have any ideas where in the US that I can buy rice still in the husk.

Doan has asked me to find some. She won't tell me what she wants it for or I don't understand what she wants it for - she just laughs and says I will show you

She said she may try to plant some and something about decorations.

I'm assuming this would be the type of rice that grows on the ground rather than in the "patty".

I have searched and searched locally and I cannot find any place. I have even tried a local farmers supply and mill but they said that since it is not grown here in our North East regional area they don't really know where to try and get it.

Appreciate any ideas and help to try!

Have you tried asain markets? I know in the bigger cities they are everywhere. Or do a online search to see what turns up for your area. Good Luck Jerome

You need to be looking for "Paddy Rice". You may try Indian or Paki stores also.

We live in a relatively small city but have found a small shop opened by an older Vietnamese immigrant. He is really nice and he goes to Buffalo every weekend for supplies. I'll take Doan over to visit him and maybe he can help. We got some Durian from him a few weeks ago :hehe: (one of the very few things I do not eat)! I can still smell it every time I open the fridge but oh well - Doan loves it so I will never complain

Yep. Also called "rough rice".

Phuong knew what this was when I described Bernie's post. She said she's seen it at several of the Asian supermarkets around here.
