Is it a different procedure?

Hey there folks and thank you for your fast and informative replies,

I am about to leave for USA in 5 days time. Let me brief you my question. Before the interview we prepared the papers as required by the Embassy. Among the papers we had one called DS 230 Part 2 and DS 156k. There was specific instruction on that paper which said DO NOT SIGN NOW, SIGN WHEN THE OFFICER ASKS YOU TO. Please note that the DS 230 part 2 wasnt in the list of request given by the embassy of Abu dhabi.

So, As per the instructions my fiance didnt sign the two papers yet, the DS 230 part 2 and DS 156k, and went for the interview. My fiance presented his paperwork to the first VO and he inspected and said it was perfect. Then came another VO, An American, Who interviewed my fiance asking questions. She then gave a blue slip asking my fiance to collect his passport in a weeks time. My fiance asked her IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE. she said nothing everything is good.

My Fiance then went after a week to collect his passport and the brown envelope. The VO gave him the stuff but my fiance stopped her and told her that he wasnt asked to sign those 2 papers. The VO told him NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. But i am alittle concerned.

Is this Normal? Would there be any problem at the POE?

Visa has been issued...

DS-230 is an immigrant visa application and a K-1 is a non-immigrant visa. Many consulates use the DS-230 Part I for informational purposes.

DS-230 Part 2 is not required for a K-1 visa applicant.

Is it possible that he did sign the DS-156k at the interview and didn't realize it. The interviewing officer should also have signed and dated it.

We all know how stressful things can be at an interview - maybe it was signed and he is confused.

In any event - I would not be overly concerned - what is done is done - the packet is sealed and soon he will be on his way.

I honestly cannot recollect whether Doan had metnioned signing hers at the interview either.

Well, he is sure that he didnt sign it and wasnt asked to sign it either. He specifically told the VO on the day he collected his passport that he wasnt asked to sign it, She said that he didnt have to worry about it

As mentioned above (and by yourself), it wasn't required, don't worry about it and the visa has been issued. Congratulations.

I would not worry girl.They know their job well.And even if it was also a over-look on their part,it will not pose any major problems.

You got your visa ! Just get ready to POE with your honey hand in hand
