Just was curious if folks' significant others go on VJ...do they have their own username or do you share? Do you tell them all about it and they try not to nod off?

David doesn't really care...it surprises me because initially he was all about the application and he's very organized, but I think he saw how obsessive I got with it and let me take the reins over it. I do tell him some stories from here from time to time. Definitely I also talk to other people about my experience with immigration (like fb and co-workers) to get some of the word out...I had no idea how frustrating immigration can be before I started this process and it's been fun educating friends and family.

My husband does not have his own account, nor does he use mine. He was very involved in the process at the beginning, and helped with the paperwork and research, etc., but since I have become a U.S. citizen, he thinks that I am just obsessing by still coming on VJ anymore.

I still have my K-2 daughter's N-400 application coming up this November, so I'm still interested in immigration matters. Once she becomes a U.S. citizen, I'll probably only drop in occasionally.

I find I don't come on VJ anywhere near as much as I used to in the last year or so.

I think a lot of people in the UK forum can tell that my fiance is on here too. Sometimes I wish I never told him about it -- it had been my little secret and now he's on here all the time.

I volunteered to be the one to master the immigration process, including research, which is basically VJ. And I'm happy to do it. Moving countries is stressful, and I'm happy that I can make it easier by knowing what we should do. Definitely the fiance's accused me (rightly) of being too scared by people's "horror" stories. You see the worst of what happens on VJ and, of course, worry that it'll happen to you. He's right on that point, but at least we've been overly-cautious rather than too careless.

I'm on here 99.9% of the time. My wife can use this account and once in a blue moon comes on here but it's primarily me blogging , posting, ranting, doing the bulk of all and I like it - how I roll. I find VJ very helpful so I'm here a fair amount. It'll likely change once I'm down and moved and setting into life in the valley of the sun....but until then... :bonk:

Ricky does not use VJ although he has access to this account - he's really not interested. He knows that I look stuff up on here..no point both of us doing that I guess. He's just not a forum person in general. He'd rather read the Embassy website.

MelissaJulian - my Facebook account is just for me..I will not add him. He was offended at first but doesn't care now. There's nothing secret there but I just NEED to have something for myself.

Byran kind of knows when it comes to this stuff.....to step back and let me at it. I tend to be overly ####### about making danged sure I am correct in what I am doing. Now he does come on here, but generally only to look something up on here or if I ask a question that he doesn't know the answer to or if I am asking him to confirm what I understood to be.

You can stand me at the gates of hell, but I wont back down.

I ,the non-USC fiance,am the one who is the most hooked to VJ.John knows the login credentials also, but he really does not care beyond the necessary,read- getting approved. He does not sometimes like me getting too much on here for the reason that I start having frequent panic attacks when I read some not so good stories or how I think we need all this extra documentation which he thinks is not needed. He challenged me once if I could try staying away from VJ for a week.Duh! He should know I got low will-power when it comes to stupid challenges like that. :hehe:

I like vj,at this point of my life.Cannot say about later. And I will try getting on here even if the important milestones of our visa journey are over, just to hang out with members and help others who are new and clueless!

My husband(UKC) had no interest in VJ. He has access to this account but has never used it. He knows VJ helped out along the way and is thankful. He let me take control of all the paperwork and trust me to be organized.

I tell him stories every now and then. But when it comes to others timelines, he really doesn't care. He knows he's here with a green card and we did it all ourselves and that's what matters to him. But I also don't think he understands how hard it is with all the processing, only because we were one of the very lucky ones and the K-1 for us only took a day over 3 months. To him 3 months was a long enough wait, but to me I know there aren't too many that come close to that and I know how lucky we were.

My husband doesn't post here, but it would be cool if he did. Because then I wouldn't have to bore him rigid every week when I update him on funny conversations and arguments I saw on VJ.

And yeah, I also did all of the obsessed research during our K1. He just sat back and listened to what I told him we had to do, and then when people asked about the process, he'd act like he'd done the research himself.

Me too. And I've tried to help the Pakistani guy at a local store, as well as a Vietnamese nail technician at the salon I go to. And I've offered to do my Mexican yard guy's paperwork for his green card. Yep obessessed, and getting to know multiple nationalities locally who are somewhere in the process. I try to help people when I can, if I've got the skill or experience.

My husband isn't interested in VJ, but I do share the drama stories that amuse me. And he knows by name the ones I've made better friends with. Also he's useful to translate British to American for me sometimes too.

C doesn't use this forum at all, though sometimes when we hit problems she asked about other peoples experiences. She is not into the whole forum thing at all, or the Internet really (odd considering she works in IT!). When we started on our journey, I did a lot of research here, and she did a lot of the formal stuff with NVC, USCIS, so we sort of split the load that way.

I handed the process over to Nik when it got to the Embassy side. I know in general quite a bit about it, but I'm not as familiar with the forms etc. Also, I tried my darndest to back off and not nag him about the whole thing. I know that he came on here to research things, read the guides, check out the example forms and read embassy reviews. He also did the writeup for the medical thread.

We knew about the K-1 visa very early on, and I know that he had saved his boarding passes etc. from trips taken a year before our engagement/filing, but I am not sure if he read more about it without telling me and saved them specifically or if he just kept them as souvenirs. :D

He's also got the log in for this username, I don't believe he has one of his own. The process is more of a chore to him than an obsession. ;)

I used to start a lot of conversations with "I was reading this thing on Visa Journey...." but as work has been crazy and I've become addicted to Farmville in my non-working hours, my VJ activity has really fallen off.

I can just imagine if I defriended him... if he was as suspicious as I would be if he did it to me...! I totally get it though -- I have a blog as well and sometimes I regret having given him that too, since I tend to blurt out every last detail of what I'm thinking all the time! I had just been a paper diary writer until a couple of weeks ago, and then I got the idea to start a blog for the two of us to post, but since he's so busy (not that I'm not crazy busy at work right now too) I'm the only one who posts there. He just reads it to find out what I'm feeling from day to day. :) I'm kind of bad at what my mom calls "self-editing".

My wife, the non-USC, discovered VJ from a friend of hers who had gone through the process years ago. However, she did not register for an account on VJ. She did read the FAQs and download some of the example forms when we were applying for a K-1. When we started the AOS phase, I was the one who used VJ as a resource and ended up registering for an account, reading the threads regularly, and getting involved in a few threads. I don't think my wife has looked at VJ since before we mailed off the AOS package, while I have been on here almost every day obsessively watching the status of others' AOS applications and looking for anything else that might be useful or of interest. I am of the opinion that reading everything on VJ that's even remotely relevant to our situation makes me better informed about immigration issues in general and that being better informed can only help in the long run. You never know what nugget of info will be useful later.
