Hello All - My N-400 application was received by USCIS on Feb 22. I got the biometrics notice on March 16 (notice was dated March 12), and completed walk-in biometrics on March 18.

My online case status shows the last update on March 16. In my previous applications I normally was touched a day or two after biometrics. Any idea what could be going on? I called USCIS and was told I needed to wait until I was out of the normal processing time (5 months) before I can log an inquiry.

I wrote this letter today...

Dear Sir or Madam:

This letter is concerning my recently filed N-400 Application for Naturalization, which was received by your office on February 22, 2010.

On March 16, 2010 I received in the mail an I-797C notice requesting I appear at an Application Support Center to have my biometrics taken. I appeared on March 18, and have attached a copy of the notice that was stamped at that time the agent took my fingerprints.

I have since been tracking my case online, and it shows the case last updated on March 16 (two days before my fingerprints were taken). Nearly two months have passed without any further activity. Can you please confirm that my biometrics information has in fact been received? If not, I will be happy to return to the Support Center and have them taken again.

Otherwise, please let me know if everything is in order and I simply need to wait for an appointment notice in the mail.

Does anyone else have a hunch as to what might be going on? Did they never receive the biometrics? Should I expect a real response or a form letter?

Online case status is unreliable and not the best way of finding out what phase your case is at. I have an application for re-entry permit from 2007 that has been approved, and the travel document has expired and the case online still says under review....

As long as you have done your part by going for your biometrics, you have nothing to worry about... just wait for them to send you the interview letter.

Hope this helps

So we called the FBI this morning. They told us they received the biometrics on March 18th, but they were rejected due to "poor quality". What now? I have a InfoPass appointment for next friday...

Can't you go back to ASC and tell them what FBI said? Infopass will most likely tell you to re-do the fingerprints anyways.

FBI will communicate this info with the ASC and they will issue you another biometrics appointment - I doubt that the infopass appointment will be able to produce a biometrics session - they might be able to schedule it for you if it hasn't already been done.

So we went to the Infopass appointment, and it was essentially a huge waste of time. The rep confirmed there had been no action on our case. I asked if there was anything she could do to initiate a new biometrics notice... "No". How long should we expect to wait for the notice to be generated then? "Don't know" Ok... How long before we should follow-up again, and what should that follow-up be? "You'll just have to keep waiting".

I guess our only option now is to wait for the case to go outside of the "normal processing window" of 5 months and file an inquiry via the 800 number.

Out of the blue... got a USCIS email today that "This case has been sent for a standard interview."! That was unexpected... I thought biometrics would definately need to be repeated...

Now we'll just wait for the noticie in the mail to see when its scheduled for.
