Ignore the following BS..

"Globally, drug use is not distributed evenly and is not simply related to drug policy, since countries with stringent user-level illegal drug policies did not have lower levels of use than countries with liberal ones," researcher Louisa Degenhardt of the University of New South Wales, Australia, and colleagues write in PLoS Medicine.

Oh, that must be BS since an Aussie is saying it. Oh wait, you're an Aussie.

The thing is that the research is right on the money. You're not.

Well, add up all illicit drugs for Aussies and you'll come up with ore impressive figures than the US does. Admit it, AUS has an issue with illicit drugs despite your unfounded and unsubstantiated claims to the contrary.

It's not possible dude, as it's just too hard to get it there and for obvious reasons. There isn't some Mexico bordering them, therefore, they can just walk the drugs in. You also have to consider reporting. Here is example, the US reports sex crime differently to a number of other counties. It basically considers rape alone. Whereas, the UK and Australia classify a range of crimes as sex crimes. At first glance, it looks like the US has a lower number of sexual crimes when compared to either. When in reality it's much higher.

As the study above illustrated, the US has four times the drug use of country in position 2. Whereas, relying on police stats alone for drug use is simply not reliable; as it's based on their arrest and reporting skills. I know cops here and they have bigger fish to fry than drug users.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Man, I was waiting for you. You gotta love the stats vs. BY's delusions.

Of course they are going to catch more druggies. It not as if they have murderers to worry about.

Why do you ignore the 2008 study showing the US having 4 times country in #2?

U.S. Leads The World In Illegal Drug Use

July 1, 2008

(WebMD) Despite tough anti-drug laws, a new survey shows the U.S. has the highest level of illegal drug use in the world.

U.S. Leads Drug Use

In the study, researchers surveyed more than 54,000 adults in the Americas (Colombia, Mexico, and the United States), Europe (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Ukraine), Middle East and Africa (Israel, Lebanon, Nigeria, South Africa), Asia, (Japan, China) and Oceania (New Zealand).

"The use of drugs seems to be a feature of more affluent countries. The U.S., which has been driving much of the world's drug research and drug policy agenda, stands out with higher levels of use of alcohol, cocaine, and cannabis, despite punitive illegal drug policies, as well as (in many U.S. states), a higher minimum legal alcohol drinking age than many comparable developed countries," write the researchers.

I cut out some of the #######. My quote disputes your "survey" and comes directly from the Australian government.

The study cited in your article studies New ZEALAND, not Australia.

Do you need to be such a belligerent putz, demanding your facts pulled from your butt be taken as facts? You ask to ignore the BS in your own quote because it runs counter to your self proclaimed facts.

Next you will tell us Australia's drug problems are skewed by the very few illegal immigrants that get through your stated perfect immigration system down under...

Australia's data could be very accurate, can the same be said about the US? Not to mention, without some sort of survey, such data is relying on arrests or charges.

Nevertheless, I can play along too. I have heard many times before that crime is directly correlated to drugs. If that is the case, why is the homicide rate amongst other crimes are still way significantly than that of the US - per capita. So either crime is not correlated to drugs and has to do with culture and demographics or it is correlated to drugs, which means the figures don't add up.

No way no how are drugs are bigger problem there than they are here.
