Is it too soon to start worrying?

I was just wondering if it is too soon to start worrying about our NOA2 arriving on time. I have tried to work out how the timelines work on here but I just can't do it! Our NOA1 was 26 days ago and I am not sure if I should start thinking about how to get in touch with my state senator to see if something can't be done to look at our case.

NOA-2 to arrive between 150 to 180 days from the NOA-1 date.

If anything prior, it's a blessing.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

150 to 180? I'd say 3-5 months is realistic. I have seen some through the CSC really quick recently but you can't really go by what has happened to others on timing.

When we filed I planned on the 5 month wait as stated on the USCIS website so I was pleasantly suprised when I got the NOA2 in 3 months (VCS - Sent, June 09 - NOA2, Sept 09).

If your only 26 days you have no need to be getting worried yet - just sit tight and wait it out. If it were to go past 180 days then you have reason to start ringing some bells.

Your NOA1 date was 4/15 and it hasn't even been one month yet. USCIS posted guideline processing times for I-129F is 6 months, so unfortunately you still have some time to wait... Your Senator will not intervene unless there are unusual circumstances related to your case or unless you are outside of normal processign times.

Oh, thanks! Doesn't it make any difference that my fiance is from the UK and is a British citizen who was born there?

Hi Melissa, look at a few timelines to get an idea of the kind of wait you can expect to have. Pace yourself, this can be a long and frustrating process (especially if you hate waiting like me) and you've only just started.

Whether your fiance is a British citizen or not doesn't really make a difference at this stage to my knowledge.

Oh, thanks Vanessa! Sorry if I seem so impatient -- it has taken us forever to get to this point, so I just want things to hurry up. :( We were supposed to file last year and then we ended up taking a break for 8 months, so it seems like I have been in the process for over a year now even though it's really only been a month! I just wish there was something I could do to make the time go by faster. I am going wedding dress shopping this week so I guess that might at least help me feel better. :D

The only advantage to having a UK fiance/spouse is that generally they are not put into Administrative Processing after the interview like some other countries which are almost always automatic.

However, our own member treehugger was put into AP and she was a natural-born UK citizen, so you never can tell...

If you look on your timeline (right under your profile name) and click on it, there is an estimated time length of getting your NOA2, based on other member's timelines. This may change going further in time or coming earlier depending on processing times...it is only an estimate, however, and not official. Clicking on yours, it says that you might get your NOA2 anywhere from "June 6, 2010 and June 19, 2010"

Naturalization

9/9: Mailed N-400 package off

9/11: Arrived at Dallas, TX

9/17: NOA

9/19: Check cashed

9/23: Received NOA

10/7: Text from USCIS on status update: Biometrics in the mail

10/9: Received Biometrics letter

10/29: Biometrics

10/31: In-line

2/16: Text from USCIS that Baltimore has scheduled an interview...finally!!

2/24: Interview letter received

3/24: Naturalization interview

Thank you, Justine. :star: I really, really hope he doesn't get stuck in AP. :( I have a feeling that he would not take that very well -- he's not that good at not getting his own way!

Thank you for everyone's response. She never believes me, has to rely on perfect strangers. :)

Maven...still keeping on his good side eh? lol

Ricky, has no interest in Visa Journey (as I much as I talk about it i'm sure he feels like he visit all the time) so it's nice that you are both here...for the support of others a little ahead of you or at the same point as you. We might be strangers but we definitely have something in common.

I found the date you're given in your VJ estimate is usually pretty close.

Ours took 141 days and fell just before the estimated date. I found the wait easier by telling myself it would take the 4-6 months (and it did, so I wasn't disappointed).

Have you found Igor's List yet? http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?cfl=

You can see in the first section the last 15 approved. Notice the dates they applied and you'll get an idea of where CSC is working right now. The graph on the right shows a percentage by month that have been approved. March appears to be half done, so not really to your month yet. They never reach 100% because it's VJ reports and some people start a timeline, then don't go back to report an approval date.

Then start scrolling way down the page and you'll see unapproved petitions separated by month. Ignore the really old ones because they probably either dropped out or didn't update their timeline. Get to March and April and you can keep up with people around your timeframe. There's even a number beside your name where you might see yourself progressing up the list. It can be disheartening when you go backwards, but that happens when somebody who filed before you newly discovers VJ and adds their timeline. It shoves them in the list in date order which could make you feel like you went backward. The numbers don't mean a whole lot, so don't get too caught up with that. Use the list to see the latest approvals and you'll know when they are working on April.

Also remember approvals won't be in exact date order. Some may have been held up by an RFE. A fast worker may have picked up one box of files and a slow worker picked up the box your file was in. Or the person with your file might have gotten sick and your file is waiting on his desk til he returns. There's alot a reasons why somebody who applied after you could be approved slightly faster, but in general they try to take them in order.
