Morning Guys!

So I did the aversion technique...only got to about 3 minutes...couldn't do it any further. I was feeling like utter #######, coughing, choking, felt like I was gonna puke, and I got really dizzy.

This morning I still wanted a cig. Heh. :crying:

One hour at a time!

that the way..1 hour and a time..1 step at a time...you can do it...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Thanks everyone, I'll need every bit of it! :P

As most of you know, they barred smoking in public places in England. As a result, there's a lot of smoking related stuff in the news there...D was reading in the paper either today or yesterday.....and they had some info about a quitting technique. Supposedly, if you take a big drag every 6 seconds for 5 minutes, you will be so ill that your brain will equate that horrible feeling with cigarettes, and you don't want to ever smoke again. The paper said it wasn't a proven method, and there's a lot of disagreement over this kind of aversion therapy, but I think I might just give it a go tonite :/

Will let you guys know how it works!

The more I think about this the more it sounds like the 'Ludevico' technique used on Alex in A Clockwork Orange ;) Make sure you don't have Beethoven's 9th playing in the background if you try it again :D

Hi Baybee. First post here :D I'm D by the way everybody :P

Back at my first "real" job, I knew a guy who had quit through a program run by 7th Day Adventists. In the program they told him you have two kinds of addiction, physical and psychological. It takes about a week to get over the physical addiction, but much longer to get over the psychological. That's why after you've stopped for a while and you try to smoke, usually you choke and cough just like when you started.

So after you get past that first week, it's just you against your brain. Don't let your brain win!!!!!

/something like that

//good luck!

Good luck on quitting. My husband is a smoker as well. He is looking into a program offered at work through the Governor's office to help with quitting.

My father and a good friend of mine were both smokers and quit cold turkey. My father fell off the wagon but the friend has been cigarette free for about 20 plus years now.

Tomorrow is the 8th anniversary of the day I got a second-chance at life. I had a very bad and horrible surgery, blah blah blah...anyways, I quit smoking on that day, but fell off the wagon 11 months later :crying:

I have quit a couple of times since, but nothing stuck...so tomorrow is it! I've decided! I actually love smoking (I know that's a problem right there), but I want to be as healthy as I can be....so I've decided to symbolically start on the anniversary of the day I got my new lease on life....I suppose I'm looking for another one...this one smoke-free.

I am sure it's going to be horrible...I become a raging biyotch whever I try to quit...D says he's actually glad he's not here, hahah.

anyways, WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...and on that note, I'm popping downstairs for a smoke...irony, heh

GOOD LUCK!!!.........................I quit for 7 months with the patches, i found it easy, then i went on holiday to Greece & for some reason i caved in on the last day & smoked........ ;) I will continue to try & quit...........if you have it sorted & convinced yourself in the head then with the help of patches its easier....................but i wish you luck

blah blah who cares, you should not of started smoking in the first place

nice 'tude dude. I thought this forum was more about support and encouragement, positive ideals. My Nana used to always say the old adage, if you can't say anything nice, better to say nothing at all.

Baybee, and by that I'm addressing my fiancee LisaD, not you butuan. Don't sweat it. We'll do it together as soon as I get there. I love you, and am proud of you for even trying, I don't even have the balls for that right now.
