On our AOS interview notification, they list that we should bring the original birth certificates of my Russian wife's children. We tried to DHL them here, but they are not allowed to send original birth certificates out of the country. Neither of my wife's children live in the USA, although her son is young enough that he may follow her on a K-2 later. We can get copies and translations of their birth certificates. Did other's need originals of their foreign spouse's children's birth certificates at their AOS interview when their children where not living here?

I don't want to sound mean but it's BS. Every person in Russia have their own birth certificate. It's totally up to a person who keeps them, in your case it must be a father of children.

Can anyone in Russia go and get copies and send them to you. I know we just had to get copies of my SD foreign birth certificate, we got it from the US Department of State though.

Good Luck!

It seems strange that it is being requested... the child is not here... however, have you tried the Russian consulate here in the USA... many times civil documents can be requested via the consulate

YMMV

It seemed ridiculous to me also, so we decided to simply bring copies of the children's birth certificates, and they never asked for them. So we have our green card.
