I received a letter from the IRS today stating that they didn't accept my dependent child care claim so I owe them a couple hundred rather than vice versa. (I filled out my form exactly as Turbotax had filled it out.) Anyway, it's no big deal. I will pay them, but my question is, do I need to update USCIS on this? I sent an exact copy of this "rejected" return with my I-864. Do I need to send a copy of the letter to USCIS now? And, assuming I get a receipt from the IRS, do I need to send in that as well?

What should I do?

It happened after you filled, so you may be issued an RFE. If you won't receive an RFE then just bring it to the interview. Don't send it in, it will rise a lot of questions and delay your process.

Good luck!

No.

Since they haven't asked for any information from you, they wouldn't know what to do with your information if you sent it.

Besides, this didn't affect what USCIS is looking for. You refund was reduced by the denial of a credit on the second page of the tax return. The income figure they are looking at (on the front of the return) did not change.

You can take the return to the interview with you if you like just in case you want to be uber-honest.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.
