Please do not include me in your 'we' . I have never killed anyone ( to my knowledge ) and certainly never murdered an animal.

I'm sorry, I meant we as in the general population.

I'm guessing you are a vegetarian/vegan, I completely respect that!

Seriously? This is the problem with OT, people get all bent of shape over stupid things. All I'm saying is that we should take steps to fix what we damaged. We killed the wolves and the bears, and now smaller predators go unchecked. We should help restore balance by reintroducing native species.

There is no need to have a hissy fit.

Would a bit of civility be out of the question? Worrying about the environment is not a discussion of "stupid things," or a "hissy fit." You argue that coyotes are running amock and that they are dangerous, why else would you include your example of a 2AM meeting with a pack of them and, "They should capture and export them." Then you post a link that confirms what I already knew, the new apical preditors are now coyotes, not the bears, wolves and cougars that once existed. You then recant your argument and suggest that, "We should help restore balance by reintroducing native species." Why didn't you just say that in the first place. Your circumlocutious method of discourse takes away from your message, assume that's what you were even trying to even say in the first place.

BTW, "Much of the rest of the nation suffers from Coyotes. By introducing competition, both populations might decrease." Which two populations, the coyotes and the rest of the nation? I assume that you are speaking of reducing the population of coyotes inside and outside the state and not reducing the coyote population in the state and the population in the rest of the nation. We have 30 million plus people in California, we can afford to thin out the ranks some.

OMT, if you don't want to be chased by a bunch of pizzed off poodles, don't go cycling at 2AM.

That depends on whether or not one party brings the other party a beer in a timely manner. :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Better take care of your saggy boobs and weak ankles.

That's what the beer's for.

That's what I'm talking about, civility. In your last two posts directed at me, you were hostile and talking down to me. First your saying i'm "uttering nonsense" then your effectively saying i'm "illogical". Those two items are the stupid things I'm talking about. My argument is that wolves are the native species in many areas and the coyotes are not. The range of coyotes used to be much smaller.

I haven't belittled your opinion, yet you have now done so three times to me. I just wish you'd be a little nicer in your posts and that's what I was getting at in my last post. It seems every time someone posts even in a fairly benign topic someone else has to belittle that person.

I'd really like to just once post here where people actually discuss the matter without taking little shots at other people.

And I apologize if my previous post was uncivil, I was simply getting frustrated by the hostility over what should be an "unheated" thread. The number one concern should be creating a balanced ecosystem. Whats a better way to do that then trying to restore what once was. Rebuilding the food chain to what it once was before grey wolves were hunted to near extinction, IMO plays an important role. I believe Grey wolves were on the endangered list up until 2002.

I just checked and they are still on the conservation list, just 3 notches down to "least concern". When I was reading about how the Bay Area developed it just amazed me how people thought back then. For instance, salmon fishing was a big business for maybe two years in the 1800s. They literally caught the majority of salmon trying to swim up river to spawn, then they were surprised that no fish really appeared the next year. Even the missionary system, which on the surface seemed sustainable (well obviously not to all of the native americans who died of disease), started the damage. Their herds forever changed the grasslands from natives that stayed green most of the year, to European grasses.
